If you have a six speed and you get the one with fuel, boost, and pyro like I did then you will be using standard senders. The trans temp does get its take from the dodge electronics. Even though I wasnt going to buy one I was curious about that myself and asked BD about it when I bought mine. They claim the tap has a full temp range signal but Dodge just gives you the idiot light. Saves money for DC. Havent heard of anyone who has compared the bd readout with an analog tap to verify its accuracy. I dont like digital gauges but as soon as I sat in a 3rd gen truck that had a three analog gauge setup on the piller I knew I wasnt going to be able to take the in your face feeling I got from them. Didnt bother me in the second gen but the extra rake on the piller in the third gen makes a difference. I was pretty ambivelent about the xmoniter but decided to give it a go and now I love that thing. Easy to read at a glance, looks good and the extra functions with the settable alarms and memory are really handy. The only downside IMO is they flat charge too much for the thing.
