I just got back from the body shop who is installing my flares for me. They painted them last week and installing them today. Something told me to do a drive-by and see how they're doing.

Well, this guy was blowing a gasket on how poorly they fit the body. Last week when he painted them, he said he spent a lot of time on fixing small blemishes in the fiberglass before paint. Just poor quality he said. And now they don't fit the body right!!!

I had him do my S-10 body flares which were the 5" wide bolt-on type by Bushwacker. Those fit beautiful compared to the Xenon.

I'm this close to throwing these out and buying the Bushwacker ones.....

I thought Xenon's were of a rubber like material. Not fiberglass?

As I have found out ALWAYS do a prefit before painting. My Stillen flares need a little adjustment as well. :(

I'll second that i love the looks over the bushwackers but man are they a nightmare to install. Thats coming from a professional body shop who i got to install them. First they had to be repainted and when they went to install them that crappy 3m tape they supply does'nt adhere very well and they started coming off after just one day. DAVE... .

There is only one style of Xenon fender flares. I have had 2 sets, one on the White Obsession. Fit was not an issue at all on the White Obsession, however if they are not prep properly (follow instruction included) you will have paint problems!

I have now put them on the Ghost Rider (it's a dually!). Of course on the Ghost Rider, being a dually, and nobody makes fender flares for the dually, we had some fit issues. However, with 3 people and alot of patients, the went on and look extremely good. (See link below)

The reason I went with the Xenons to begin with is the 3M tape. I didn't want a fender flare that floats on the top. Loren Hartman just took his Bushwackers off and they wore the paint off down to the metal where they float on top. He is going to replace them with Xenon's.

Not to knock your installer, but if he hasn't installed Xenon before, he may not have taken the time necessary to do a good job.

Sorry for your problems.

I would definately buy Xenons again! IMO they are the best!

IS it the fit of the rears that is the problem? (Like the "bumps" for the body lines are too low?) My fender did not seem to be rolled enough to allow enough hight. (if that makes any sense)

Mine are EGR flares. The fronts fit great, but the rears needed some help.

Yeah my only real problem is with the rears staying on. After i took it back they are holding pretty good. They must have been in a hurry the first time needless to say that body shop won't be seeing any more work from me...

I have Xenon flares and they fit fine. I did the install with no problems and no trimming. Pictures are in my reader's rigs.

There are a couple of thing you must do while installing the Xenons, first, the fender flare need to be at least 70 degrees and second, you need to sand (with 220 grit) the surface of the Xenons where the 3M tape is to be applied, then you use a good cleaner and wax remover on both the area sanded on the flare and also the fender where the 3M tape will stick to the fender. If done properly, you will not have any problems. :D

I love the looks of my Bushwackers, but the paint is stripped of the rear ones already (about 8 months). Not too happy about that. I think the body shop didn't prep them correctly.
