Last year I looked into changing out my Sirius to XM. The units sold for this would not work in 06 trucks due to the CAN-BUS. I was told that units were being developed for these newer truck but dunno if they ever were. I much prefer XM radio to Sirius. It's time to renew my Sirius subscription and I think I'll pass.

Anyone know if there are hidden units... not the Roady, etc. . . . now available for 06 and later trucks?

Thanks,

Mark

Roger check out; myradiostore.com

Do a search for Dodge

I think they have your anwser. ;)

Hidden units, They have them, I have one.

Sled Dog,
Thanks but I did do a search and found nothing for an 06 Dodge???... Perhaps I missed something... it has happened ;-) What year truck do you have?

I had also called West Coast Radio today and they said that nothing is available yet. I guess I either wait or change out the factory radio for an XM ready after market. . if that will even work with CAN-BUS. Personally I really think Sirius Radio is worthless so I'll just go without like I have done for decades... until I find an XM compatable unit.

I think Serius has bought XM. Not sure what that will do for programming.

Indeed they seem to have made a deal. Whether or not the FCC will allow this merger is gonna be in the courts for a while I suspect. When it all shakes out the programming might be decent for all of us...

I am personally a rabid baseball fan and XM has all the MLB games which is my primary reason for wanting XM instead of Sirius.

And the subscription fees will go through the roof. No competition is a BAD thing. Prices at the pump wouldn't nearly be so high as they are now if a few mergers wouldn't have been allowed.

I'm not so sure prices will go up. They still need to compete with all the FM radio, CDs, and MP3 players. If the price is too high, people won't sign up. What the sat radio industry really needs is a compatable hardware standard so that the car mfgs can equip new vehicles with sat radio standard and let the buyer choose which service they want.

As I understand it, neither Sirius or XM are hauling huge piles of money to the bank. At least if they are allowed to merge the resulting company will have a better chance of surviving. I would expect that if FCC were to allow it they would impose some price guidelines the same way the Public Utilities Commission controls cable tv, PGE (elec/gas), and some other utilities (which are monopolistic) in Ca.

I believe that the reason the prices at the pump are so high is that the oil companies have privately agreed on price structure and the pols have been bought off (say it ain't so, Mark) to turn the other way and allow this gouging. Just my normal cynical view on big companies and govt. Guess this is OT... sorry.

I will give a call to My Radio Store tomorrow as Sled Dog suggested and update here when I hear what they have to offer.

Sled Dog,

I called them this AM. I spoke to a very nice young lady who spent a lot of time on the phone with me and consulted her tech people. In the end, the only options she offered were clip on units (Roady type) which can plug into your aux input. Seems the Terk units are still not compatable. I'm curious as to what they did for you since you seem to have an 06 truck with a hidden unit. ???
