I just had a new CP3 installed because of a knocking noise. I have removed the Xzilleraider because it caused some serious engine noise (cackling or injector rattle) and set off a series of codes plus the check engine light. The problem seemed to arise when I was using the Jake, either for warming up the engine or the last time when I was on a quick trip over a lot of mountain passes. I am wondering if any one else has had this experience. The engine is running better stock than it did with the old CP3, but I miss the extra power from the chip. That being said I am very reluctant to reinstall the Xzilleraider until I can get some answers. I would also like to know if the pressure boxes increase the load on the CP3 or is it producing the high pressure all the time and the box allows the higher pressure to the injectors. I still have my Edge EZ and I am considering reinstalling it as I had no problems with it. I wish I had spent the extra money on the TST PMCR as from what I read on this site the members that have them are satisfied and seem to have very few issues plus there are no pressure issues.

I have one other guy have an issue with a brake, but it was from BD.

I think what happens is that when you use the brake it creates pressure on the cylinders and causes the rail pressure to change from a normal state.

I think I problem with this is that we modify things in very high resolution and our changes probably start lower than the EZ. So if the brake cause the rail pressure to rise at idle some we also change it and it may cause some confusion.

Another thing that could cause an issue is if the brake cause the MAP sensor to read funny. We use the Map signal for a lot more than just boost blocking and it could cause our box to make fueling adjustments.

It is hard to pinpoint the exact issue because it I have only heard of it once. We started working with him, but there was not much info other than after I use my brake I get an engine light. That makes it really hard to diagnose.

I would love to fix it or alter some code for you to see if we can make it work. I bet we can.

If you can get me the codes it would be really helpful.

Quad

How can you tell its bad ? My truck is loud compared to what it used to sound like. I put my buddies quad box on and I got a loud knocking noise which I have heard before but just not as loud. Did the dealership find or did you just replace it ? Thanks

I had the truck into the dealer for other work. I have had this knocking noise for a long time and the severity of the noise varied. I had asked other dealers about the noise but they tended to ignore it. The technician at this dealership came over to my truck and listened to it. He heard the same knocking that I was hearing and said he would check it out. He also asked another tech. to come and listen. Between the two of them they determined the knocking was coming from the CP3 and that one would be ordered in and installed. This was all done without any problems other than I had to pay for an hour of labor because of the vacuum pump for the Jake.

The Quadzilla does cause some different engine sounds. especially on 2 or 3 which I expected as it is messing with timing and I think duration as well. As mentioned above I am having problems with the Quadzilla when using the Jake. Quadzilla seem willing to help but I am really reluctant to reinstall the box until I can be assured the problems will not return.
