Those things are quick though. On our way back from Flagstaff AZ today, me and my girlfriend Susann had a GMC run up next to us and slow down to about 60. There were some cars in front of us and he nailed it, I nailed it. I started walking out then had to slow for traffic. A few minutes later and we have some more room. So he comes by us at around 65 and nails it. I nail it, but he had momentum so he was out in front about 2 truck leangths. I run him down and pass him, looked down and I was a little over 115mph. He backed out and stayed back. Later he was next to me and I was going to give him the thumbs up, but he woulndt look at me. Susann said that was fun. I told her "YAAAA" #ad

Are you saying this truck is factory stock? If it is, would you mind posting this over In Battle Zone on the Chevy site please?

Another possibility is that your truck didn't win the race, the other driver's fear of excessive speed in street racing just caused him to back out of it sooner; if that was his reason, it might also explain the unwillingness to make eye contact - you just plain scared him. With street racing, it is not just truck against truck, it is also a very dangerous game of "chicken". If your goal was to test your truck, you'll never really know if your truck "won" or the other driver just "quit".

I just want folks to stop and think a minute about this.

I'm no saint, and I have no right to preach. But I'm going to do it anyway, because I went to four funerals in year 2000 as a result of automobile accidents, lost a fifth person I knew but missed the funeral, knew two more who spent serious hospital time that was measured in weeks, and a third who was treated and released. That's a lot of families messed up by auto accidents. Technically none of these accidents were caused by street racing, but, excessive speed was a factor in some. Some risks we can't control, but when we can, we should.

Please, for your safety and ours, find a safer place to play.

First Bigmikie, please understand I'm not making any judgment here, nor intending to diss your contribution. We have been waiting for evidence of "conflicts" with the very vocal chebbie boys and their alumiheads.

Come to May Madness. You can flex your muscles on the dyno Wedn, Thurs, Friday. Friday night is "test and tune" drags meaning time trials, at the Speedway. One reason we picked the weekend of May 18 was because there is no "big" race at the Speedway that weekend, so the Friday night test race should not be heavily attended by gas pigs.

It will be a safe place to race and hopefully we can bring in some victims for a feeding frenzy.

He was in it the whole time. I just have a EZ box on my truck. Another thing I noticed was the lack of any sound from his truck. If my truck didnt have the EZ on it I think he would have had me beat. I just got some 275RVs from my lovely Susann. I wish I had those in for that one. Next time #ad
Well everyone else needs to settle down a bit. We were not racing trough traffic. It was him and I. I am a big boy so Please dont be to concerned for me. As far as inocent public, As I stated, The interstate was clear. I too am a very safe person. I dont make a habit of racing all the time. Not many chances like this come up with so few trucks around. I think most of you would have raced him too. He was a little cocky and instagated it. Sorry if I bothered some, and happy to tell the story to the rest of you.

I'm sure Bigmikes intent was NOT to make a statement that it's okay to speed or race, etc, etc, etc. , blah blah blah. on public highways.

This was not road rage.

What it was, is good ol' Boys (and Gals)having a good time. Dodge vs. Ford vs. Chevy. We all think we have the best, and in our minds we do.

But come on the guy could have at least looked over to see your approving thumbs up. Guess he's mad at the GM salesman.

I was on The Diesel Page.com last night and saw that a guy with a Dodge beat a duramax in a regulation drag race. I think they were in the mid 16s. The Dodge wasn't that hot - I think a 96 with 250hp plate and stock injectors. Is 'the diesel page' the only Chevy site? It didn't look like many of those guys have towed much yet to tell how they are at working hard. Craig

I'm a very safety oriented person, have to be with my work, even more conscious while driving, but if that GMC had pulled up to me on an open Interstate I would have pounded it to the floor also. I'm afraid of one of those Duramaxs blowing up and hitting me with shrapnel.

I aqgree about the safty thing but if I was in the same situation it would of been pedal to the metal as well. Like bigmikie it would of been for informational purposes only. #ad

Once you get outta town in NV or AZ or UT, it is desolate and empty. Not even much danger of hitting a jackrabbit. Can't let an uppity alumihead get away with it.
Next time you gotta have more power. HUMILIATE, don't just beat those heretics. That's why Sickly has a "little extra" of course. #ad

Big Mikie,
I see you have an 'EZ. ' Did you install the 'boost elbow' that came with the kit?
My 0-60 times were consistantly 16 seconds
before the EZ, but after were 13 sec without the boost elbow.
Now, with the boost elbow also installed, I'm at 11. 0 seconds 0-60. My boost only goes up to 24 lbs.
I also have a 3500. Is this close to your
readings?
Bob

Yes I have the elbow installed. Your readings are just about like mine. I have a new set of RV275 injectors, still in the boxes, but all this I am reading that they wont make a big diference, I might sell them. If interested let me know, e-mail me. I might go with the DD2s or something.

The 275's will make about about 40 hp more than stock ETH injectors and is a nice upgrade for an ETH. This has been verified several times here on the TDR. Joe Donnelly installed a set with the truck sitting right on the dyno between runs, one time, and registered a 42 hp gain on an ETH. Installation of the 275's along with the EZ will produce about all the power the stock clutch is able to hold.

An ETH with an EZ box should make a good run against a Duramax when running in 4th, 5th and 6th gears. It will have about the same horse power and about 100 ft/lbs more torque.

Im running the ez with DD3's and the HX40 with the mcleod. there is a duramax around my neck of the woods thats been eating up the powerstrokes Im just waiting for the day when he rolls up next to me I got a little something for him #ad

I've got the chance to drive the duramax in a 3/4 ton. was impressive off the line, but couldn't stand a chance against similarly equipped Dodge on the top end. transmission was cool. I say if you get the chance to dust the idiot who spent way too much money on a rice burning ripoff that burns way too much fuel, then do it. Believe me it will be worth it to prove to them that they goofed up when they bought an engine with way more cubes and all the fuel they could throw at it. And besides it's power doesn't peek until 3,000 rpm whereas the cummins is at 1,800 to 2,200. The Cummins is by far the better motor, just ask my brother who is fixing totrade in his gasser, after driving mine.

HC, as an ex-driver ed teacher who has read the obituaries of too many of his students who said "it'll never happen to me!", I'm in your corner all the way! I took all my championships on tracks, and it takes more than all the internal strength I have in me to turn down a street drag. I rely on God and pray every time that temptation arises!
