I am feeling pretty fine today, my buddy and I killed the KDP in my truck today. Man what a load off my mind that is. It went super smoothe, didn't have to remove the t/c, jig went on, drill went all the way in and bingo, instant relief. While there, I change both my rad hoses, by pass hoses and water pump. I was also going to put in a new thermostat and exchange my coolant for the new Catapillar Extended Life coolant that I just bought, but I don't know how to get all the coolant out of the block. I did drain the radiator but thats only about half the coolant and Catapillar doesn't recommend mixing the two.

So can anyone tell me or guide me to a site that shows me how to get all the coolant out of my diesel? As always I know you guy/girls will see me thru, your the best. Rattle On!!

There was an article in one of the past TDR mags about this.

I think part of the trick was to jack the back of the truck up with the bottom radiator hose off so the block can drain better. Some guys said they backed the truck up onto some auto ramps or something and that helped alot.

Good luck. :)

I took the lower radiator hose off at the waterpump and the coolant line going into the heater core with the truck backed into the driveway, which is on an incline, and blew air into the hose going to the heater core. I also blew out the radiator. After all this I only got 5 gallons of coolant out and I thought for sure the system held almost 6.
