WVO newbie questions

I'm looking to perhaps get a 50 gallon drum of B100 so I can add a gallon or 2 per tank of regular ULSD for lubricity - but since the 50 gallons of bio would last quite a while, what have become recommended methods to keep it stable in summer/winter climates in longer storage - perhaps a year or so?

What reading I have done, states bio is very suceptable to water absorption and micro-organism growth - is there a special additive for bio? will regular diesel fuel additives work?

Looking for reasonaly well informed info here - *I* can just "guess" as well as the next guy... ;) :-laf

Builds up a lot of acid, too, from sitting around?

Power Service 911 in the red bottle? I wonder if Amsoil has something. They're pretty much on top of the acidic buildup issue in motor oil

Why get a 50 gal drum? Consider a 10 gal tankful.

The nearest source of bio - B100 - is a 250 mile round trip from here, too far to be very economical! But, you may be correct, and judging from the obvious lack of comments here as to long term stability of bio, OR the additives that might retard or eliminate contamination from water and/or other items, it's probably not practical to attempt the longer term storage that would occur with a 50 gallon volume - enough for nearly a year when used at 2 gallons or so per tank of ULSD purely as a lubricity source.

I have a couple of 6-gallon fuel containers - might just fill them, and they would probably last the summer, until the next time we head over to my dad's in Payette, where the B100 is sold...

Gary:

You may recall when quite a few people started using the Amalgamated Additive a few years back, there was an article in the TDR at the time. You rarely hear about it anymore though I still use it and am quite happy with it. By the way they now make smaller units than the 5 gal pail and they have changed the 5 gal pail though I have no idea of cost on the smaller units. Anyway back to the question they definitely make some bio additives as well as stabilization additives. Might be worth a call to see if they make what you are looking for.
