Im sure glad I made the drive to Alaska. The way things are going, Ill probably never make that trip again.

Im planning on making a trip over to Yellowstone next week. I was wondering if anyone know what the fishing prospects are there this time of year.

Thanks for your help,

Call Yellowstone NP Ranger Station. You can find their toll free number on the internet. They can give you the latest feedback on all conditions in the park.

One thing I found out about Yellowstone last year is that you need to plan plenty of time getting through the park. People tend to stop right in the middle of the road to view the wildlife. They don't seem to understand that there are places to pull off the road so they don't block traffic. They will stop, get out of their car and take pictures with no regard to anyone behind them----#@$%!#@$%!

If you plan to trailer, get reservations before you go...

This early some of the roads around the park might not yet be open... we've gone in May and found that the loop road was closed... and there was at least 20% more snow this year than when we went...

We stayed in a good sam park at the north entrance of the park... and didn't stay in the right one. . we should have stayed at the one down by the river, not the one on the hill closest to the entrance...

In May the park was almost deserted... it is now our most favorite time..... there is a great bear and wolf exhibit outside the west entrance that we really like... its private but great to sit and watch the bears...

I guess I've been to Yellowstone at least 10 times over the years... I have photos feeding the bears from the window of our car when I was 8... . I haven't seen a bear in the park in the last 2 visits... the rangers have them moved to the outback for safety... .

Take lots of time... don't be afraid to wonder... we walked out by one of the lakes and came across a moose that was huge... . I walked up to him carefully and have some great photos... I retreated when the others showed up... . and got to close and he got up and snorted... .

I didn't fish in May... too much snow and Ice... . I don't know about June... there are 2 ghost towns that are on the west side... with some great fishing in those streams... . Ennis???? Every place I dropped a fly I caught fish... . the park in most of the streams is catch and release..... I'm just a beginner fly fishing... you'll either need to get some locally as the hatch is always different than any stream I've fished... . or know someone who knows the bugs... I'm back to Ennis... there are 2 or 3 really great fly shops there... . all their gear was way above my pay grade...

On the Madison River expect to wade out and be among the elk and bison... .

Can you tell, besides Alaska, Yellowstone is one of our most favorite places.....

BTW - there are 2 roads out the east side, on the way to Cody I think. . I would never take a trailer with electric brakes on... too steep, sharp curves... the down hills are bad... .

Make sure you get to the Tetons as well... ... Have a great trip. .
