Well folks, an NV4500 found it's way into my truck not even a week ago. The Getrag's output shaft twisted! Wow, but i think i know what it's from, it's from pulling my 13000lb manlift out of the mud from time to time, which in the beginning when I got the lift I had really small, rock hard tires that when you would find out your in trouble it means your hung up on the frame, which would make it an outrageous hard pull from time to time. That's the only thing I can think of, unless something had been happening with the truck before I got it, but I doubt it, my uncle took fantastic care of it, he babied it. The Getrag 360 seemed to be shifting very nicely still though, and without noise right up til the end... but I can't turn the input shaft by hand anyways right now, i think it's probably because that output shaft is binding. I still have it and if anybody wants it it's yours. I'm thinking there's probably some pretty good parts in there still, like i say it was running really nice right up til the end...
I'll get back later with some pics...

Anybody heard of a RhinoPac Vinyl clutch? That's what they put in, I'm just too strapped for cash to start saying I want the Con O and all that stuff, and I needed my truck back as fast as possible. I could have asked more questions had I known what tha heck to ask, but I've been a little frantic lately and I didn't pressure them too terribly much but I've been just like get me my damn truck back. And get the thing back, not even a week later i accidentally hit the axle eject button... nice

Edited to add:

For some reason, the engine vibration inside the truck seems alot more now, which i didn't like at first, but i think I like it now because it seems to have fixed the T-case shifter rattle problem lol Just kidding, that's like getting a punch in the nose to cure your hurting leg.

Being stuck I took my truck to Westrans to do the work, because 1) I'm too busy at work to take the time off and 2) as much as i'd like to actually do it myself, I'd make more money working than the labour saved. Having said that, they ordered it in from some place out of Chicago.

From the little that I drove the truck, for towing I think I actually liked the Getrag better, it shifted every bit as good as this here NV, and the way the NV4500 is geared it seems almost like whenever you switch gears you're lugging it. Empty though it's fine. Can't say i like how much it vibrates inside the truck at idle though, not sure why the heck that is. I will find out.

ok, i was just wondering because i bought a nv4500 out of a 1998 dodge v10. I figured if nothing else, I could use it as a core charge. someone else said that it should bolt up, but he was not sure ether. anyway, just wondering if you had any input. any would be helpfull.

I'll take the Getrag. Might pay you to ship the top cover assembly to me now. The rest, you can deliver to SOP.

Alright Daniel it's all yours, you just have to be there to get it ;) I guess they couldn't get the shift tower out so they hacked the shifter right off. I'm pretty sure you don't need that though. It was a real bugger getting that shifter in and out, that I know. Just let me know everything you need off it right now and I'll ship to you... Gotta tell you this though, it did leak oil from somewhere at the top after I overfilled it, it never left puddles or anything, but you could see the transmission was wet especially after pulling the trailer, which i figured had something to do with keeping the Rpms high.

I thought mine was leaking from the vent, but now that I have the floor out, it looks like around the shifter boot.

I know I'm not going to drain out 1 quart to make it stop! ;) :-laf
