Front brake upgrades?

My truck definitely has the infamous broken blend door. Apparently, a piece of it has fallen down and is preventing the fan from blowing. Once in a while it will work, but it never lasts long.

I thought I read where someone had reached in and pulled a broken piece out of the fan, but I can't find the post.

I need a quick fix for the fan. Where do I reach in to feel around for the broken pieces? I assume I'm looking for the recirculation intake, but I can't locate it.

Bob

OK,to start off with it is not a blend door! The recirc door determins where the air comes from-inside or outside. When the door pivot breaks the door drops blocking any airflow. The pivot piece will drop down into the squirrel cage upsetting it's balance and will vibrate. Just drop the blower motor out,you will be able to see the broken piece sitting in the cage. You can reach up and turn the broken door about 10 different ways to sneak it out the opening. After removing the door you will no longer be able to shut off out side air.

Bob

I'm not sure which door is broken on mine, but I haven't been able to control where the air comes out for quite some time.

I followed your advice and removed the blower motor. I couldn't feel any debris in the housing, so I reconnected the motor, with it laying on the floorboard.

With the ignition on and the fan control on high, the motor would not turn on it's own. If I gave it a spin with my hand, it would run... somewhat.

After I re-installed the motor it now works. I don't know for how long, but it worked right then.

When the blower first quit, I replaced the control module... thinking that might have been the problem all along. It made no difference at all.

Now I'm thinking that I have a broken door and need to replace the motor and resistor block.

Bob

I had to replace the blower fan on mine for the exact same reason.

at first if my wilf would kick or tap on the blower housing it would start up and run. but after awhile it got old doing that. I replaced the blower motor

no problems since. (8months)

The motors get a dead spot in the armature.
