Yet another Getrag Question.

I am starting to think we need a Getrag subforum in the 1st gen Forum. Sorry to start another thread but I did not want to pile on somebody elses thread.



What do you guys use to seal the countershaft plug at the front of the countershaft after rebuild?



I just replaced every bearing and the countershaft in the Getrag I purchased from member Ldechaine. Kudos to you my brother for not runnin her to her death. You should be an honorary member of the Getrag Preservation society, even though you now row an NV4500.



I would also like to Thank all members of this community who have posted their experiences with this rebuild. You guys made my job easier. I have built different flavors of gear boxes in the past but this was my first Getrag and it does have its own set interesting features.

There is a rubber/fiber plug that you stick in there and seal the edges with silicone sealant. You should be able to get one from anyone who sells Getrag parts. I got my kit from Zumbrota Bearing and Gear.

Thanks, I got the kit from Zumbrota as well. I just needed to know what to use as a sealant. I wasnt sure if Silicon based rtv's or similar would work in that application. Thanks for your reply.
