Yet another *&%$#@ leak!

Now it's a coolant leak. I did a search on past threads for ideas, and still can't find it. It is coming from the driver's side and leaks perpetually, but more so when the engine is running. I checked the drain petcock and it's not coming from there. However, it is coming from this area. Any ideas on things to check? How the heck does a fellow get back in there without pulling the whole radiator? Is the radiator covered under the 100k engine warranty?



The transfer case leak wasn't part of the engine/drivetrain warranty, but a seal from NAPA and a speedy-sleeve fixed that problem.



On a different topic, I drained the Amsoil 2000 series 75w-90 from the differentials and the transmission after 30k on each. I know looks don't tell the whole story, but that fluid looked like crap! I went back to the Castrol in the transmission and LE Synolec in the pumpkins.

My radiator would drip where the overflow hose leaves the radiator and goes to the overflow bottle. My truck didn't have a clamp there and it would drip at the bottom of the rad/hose junction. I was getting a coolant smell and thought it was the overflow bottle until I ran my finger under the hose.



I put a small constant tension clamp on the hose at the radiator end. Don't know if there is supposed to be one there or not but no more drip.

Back on the road!

I pulled the radiator and took it into the shop. They recrimped it and that did the trick. Cheap fix, I like it!



It seemed that the hardest part about pulling the radiator was getting the winshield washer bottle out. There are two "boobs" on the back that pop into the fan shroud.



Popped her in, new t-stat, new radiator cap and a fresh coolant fill. Oo.
