Yet Another Quirk

It is unbelievable that every strange quirk on my Ram is shared by everyone else! Here is another,can anyone tell me why when I open the drivers door the odometer lights and shows the mileage?? Anyone??

It stays on for a few seconds before extinguishing. That is done so that you can check the odometer reading without turning the key on. Pretty smart huh?

You must have gotten the AVIS truck!

The SERVICE MANUAL refers to this feature as the “Rental Car” mode. "The odometer has a “Rental Car” mode, which will illuminate the odometer information in the VFD whenever the driver side front door is opened with the ignition switch in the Off or Accessory positions. "

Mine does this too. Add one more thing to the many things I like about my new truck! Will it ever stop? I'm about ready for some vitamin E already!!!

Mine does it too - makes it a lot easier to log mileage when I fill up - and another thing to love on my truck!

Yep they all do it. I like it. We bought a Jeep Liberty and it does it too. I wish they were like my VW the numbers on the odometer stay on all the time.
