I started having a whistle under the hood. It sounds like a tea kettle, but not quite as loud... the pitch never changes with rpm's. So far it's only done it with a warm engine. It's not all the time, and when it does do it, it keeps on till I shut it down... . wait 5 seconds and re-start and it's gone..... jack it up to 2500RPM, it's back:confused: I'm thinking air leak somewhere, what are some other ideas? I have no gauges on a stock engine. Thanks for any help.

Get a piece of rubber hose, say 3/8" about 3 feet long. Place one end to your ear and use the other end as a sniffer. See if you can locate the source.

do you have any coolant leaks?

Check all the rubber hose connections to the turbo intercooler, etc...

I to have that same whistle noise. I thought it sounded like it was coming from the big tow mirrors that are on it. . not sure just kinda ignore it right now. maybe someone here knows. .

dave176..... mine is making the whistle even at idle, parked at the house. John... ..... I can see no fluid leaks of any kind... I'll try that sniffer in the morning

I heard a whistle coming from my truck and it turns out that it was air coming thru the driver side door handle when the doors are closed and the blower fan is on even on the low speed you could here it . Oh ya thats the outside drivers door handle. Maybe thats it ..... DAVE... .

It' definitely under the hood. I made a 300 mile round trip Saturday with no sound... . then drove 30 miles the next day and it came back
