"Gaffers" Tape

Downsizing in Ireland

I just had to let this one out. Came accross a brand new (240 miles new) crew cab super doody with that wierd sounding diesel? Anyway he was pulling a 28' 5'er with 6 horses and tack in it. He decieded it was a good idea to try and pull this combo across a driveway with a steep curb. He high centered the 5'er, and the to make matters worse, gunned it, which basicall caused the rear axel of the truck to suspend off the ground about 1/2", rendering his wheel useless. :0

Well fortunately for him I came along, and luck for me I had 1400lbs in the bed for traction. One tow strap, alot of smoke, and pulled him out. All the while him telling me I didn't have the power to pull him free.
Ain't life grand? #ad

... All the while him telling me I didn't have the power to pull him free... .

if he knew that much about power and traction, you would have had no story

I once "pulled out" a Sparkletts water truck (big 5-ton-sized carrier for those 5-gallon jugs) with my previous pickup, a K1500 Chebby.
He'd sunk both rear wheels in a muddy ditch, with the truck at a 90* angle to the pavement. Bumper was resting on the far side of the ditch, preventing further dig-down, but he couldn't get a bite on the pavement.
I tied up my little truck to his giant green landmark, told him to put truck in gear and keep light pressure on the gas-pedal... I then put a few (very few) 1,000 lb of tension on the cable, and he actually got the truck out on its own power.

An actual full-dead extraction is another animal entirely. #ad
There's no way I could have done that "pull out" if the International had been disabled. --actually, in that instance, what would have been the point? He'd still have needed a big tow truck. ---ramble ramble ramble. . im a ramblin' guy..... ram ram ram ram rammmmmmmmmBLINNNNNN!

Ya gotta love the power of the mighty CTD. Late one night my partner and I got the patrol car stuck in the middle of a construction sand road while investigating a complaint. Wanting to save face, we didn't call a wrecker so I went back to get the big Dodge. There isn't a convenient place to hook to on the Ford Crown Vic, so we hooked to the front push bumper. Needless to say, six 3/8 grade 8 bolts later the push bumper is hanging half off #ad
, but we got the car out. We had to do alittle bendy here and a bolt or two there and it looks as good as new. #ad
