Yooper Trail Ride 2003, Sep 27 & 28

It that time of year again. This year's campout/trail ride will be the last weekend of September, the 27th and 28th. We will be camping in the same campround as last year, will post contact info in next post, have to dig it up. I am still working on a mine tour, I need an idea of how many are interested in this.

Hope to see many of you there this year, especially the adventurous 4x4 types. The wife is planning on bringing the minivan up for those ladies who would like to go shopping in Marquette.

Pictures of last years ride can be seen here: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/user_gallery/displayalbum.php?&userid=6045&albumid=1003

More info to come,

Paul

Will post the flyer for the campground later this week when I can get to a scanner.

For the kids Barbara is checking into the cost of a trip to the kids museum in Marqette.

Time to get some sleep, will post more info later this week.

Looks like fun but I don't think my wife would like me taking my dually through some of tha "challenges". My dually probably wouldn't like it much either!

No need to subjet the dually to any abuse, Extreme1, come out and camp with us and watch Paul and the others trash their trucks.

Mrs Doc just arranged for the time off, so we will be up there for the weekend. We planned to spend a week or so in the UP, but now that the event date has been set for later in the month, we will only be able to do a five day trip. I have classes on Tuesday and Thursday, so I will have to work around that.

Doc

This is what I get for going too slow. The 8" log laying across the trail is holding the front bumper up enough that the wheels are hanging. A little faster and a little to the right and I would have made it. Definetely want to find this trail again during YTR2003.

Umm Paul, yer on yer own this year! LMAO My heap will stay on good, dry, solid ground this time, stacks and those, "trails" as you call them, don't mix well. :D I'll use my ATV this year. :D

Rob

Rob, did you take your ATV on the trail that went through the campground last year? Did the trail go anywhere interesting?

Doc

Doc, nope, my ATV never left the campground. :( Just so's everyone doesn't get worried about Pauls trails, and trashing they're trucks, there are plenty of two tracks(fire roads) around there, they are enjoyable to ride on, and no need for a roll cage, winch, wrecker, ect, ect. :D

Rob

updated info

Hope to see you here Hammer and Wayne.

I will be posting the flyer for the campround tomorrow. Don't have a scanner here, will have to use the one at the farm.

Barbara got the info for the Children's Museum.

They are open Saturday and Sunday. Infants are free, children $3. 50, adults $4. 50. It's about a 20 minute drive from the campgound.

More info here:

We should be getting crop damage permits for the farm this week so I should have fresh venison for the grill. For those of you here last year, any suggestion on the marinade? More or less cayenne?

For those of us that are hitting the trails, I was thinking that a couple of two way radios might be handy.

Rob, the ATV is a great idea. You can be the guinee pig to scout the unknown trails. :D

Paul

Mine Tour

Do to a large maintenance project scheduled for September the mine company can't accommodate us for a tour this year. Next year I will work with the mine during the planning process.

Venison update.

We have permits. Steaks and such are being cut at the butcher shop as I type. Any special requests let me know.

Gotta go,

Paul

Paul, I believe I met you at the campground at Muncie this year. You camped in your truck back by the pond, right? Anyway, I may be interested in coming up this year. My family and I love camping and wheeling. I'm definitely one of those "adventurous 4x4 types". Is this for Dodge trucks only? :)

Yeah, that was was me sleeping with my feet in the window. Look forward to seeing you up here Fritz.

Now that your Chebby has a proper drive train we will allow it. :D

Later,

Paul

Need head-count for food

Five weeks to go. I have some venison in the freezer already, need to know how many I need to get before the permits run out in 4 weeks. I hope to have enough venison steaks for everyone to grill on Saturday evening. Let me know how many are coming. Also let me know which marinade you would like. I'm planning three batches; plain, italian, and the teryaki glaze I did last year. If there is enough interest I will do a HOT and a mild batch of the teryaki.

Either post or PM me.

See ya all next month,

Paul
