You drive with it up?

No this is not the viagra forum, I'm talking about the mopar flip up tow mirrors. When not towing a trailer do you prefer them in the up position or down? Just got a pair (Thanks E1!) and was wondering what most of you prefer and why? Do you find the convex better in the lower corner or upper? I know it comes down to personal preference but I was just curious, Thanks.

I drive with mine down when not towing, they're a little big lookin without the bulk of the trailer behind the truck. I like the spot mirror in either postion, no preference, either way they work great. I assume yours aren't power, that makes it tough when flipping/adjusting everyday. You need to do the power/heated conversion, you'll really love those mirrors then. :D

I hear you Rob, that conversion may very well be in my future, or maybe someone will start doing it as a service we can pay for;) , oh well, your instructions were very thorough and the only sore part would be getting a set of 03 mirrors $$$. If I didn't say it before Rob, you got a really cool truck:) .

I am with Rob, I always drive with mine down unless I am towing the camping trailer. It's 32' and even with them up, it makes it a little difficult. My car trailer is about 19' from tongue to tail and I can usually see well enough with the mirrors down in normal position.

They are nice mirrors to have . I haven't had an issue with blind spots yet.

Go to www.Dodge.com click on the Contact Us button and send them an e-mail requesting the power-heated towing mirrors for the pre-03 trucks.

If they get enough requests, they might offer them. ;)

I usually have mine down, even when towing. It's too much of a pain to readjust them for one trip. The towing mirrors are awsome even when in the down position.

Normal driving mine are down. My only trailer right now is 8' wide, and I can't see it behind my trucks BIG BUTT, even with the mirrors up. I covered the OEM convex mirrors with some Auto Zone $2, 3" x 4" spot mirrors, that allows me to at least see the back corners of the trailer. Much better on the passenger side. Now I can tell if that is a Honda civic, or a bird dropping on my mirror on my right.

Mine have been up since day one, I never put them in the down postion. With a Dually, I figure if I can clear my ears, I can clear my rears;) .

Thanks Kalaehina!

Thats a great idea shovelhead, I know DC made a very short run of the 2nd gen power flip up mirrors, you have to wonder why they didn't continue, at least for an add-on.

The e-mail replay from D/C

Dear Ed,

Thank you for e-mailing DaimlerChrysler regarding your suggestion for

DaimlerChrysler to offer heated towing mirrors for our trucks.

I appreciate the time you took to write and share your feedback about

towing mirrors. I have documented this information and have forwarded it along to our product development team.

Thank you for writing.

Every great journey starts with one small step.

;)

My trailer-tow mirrors stay up all the time, the better to see around the dually fenders. Don't like the spot mirror at the outside corner:confused:, but have not yet tackled swapping the right and left glass. These mirrors are great! Get the power/heated type if you can.

Drive Safe!

Hey I thought of swapping them also, is this possible? Has anyone did this? Switching the left to right and vice versa so in the down position the convex would be in the lower corner. Hmm interesting... ...
