I remember reading about this back in the late 80's. I don't think anything like this would fly, because the gov't would have to come up with some kind of subsidy for people to afford new vehicles.

That bothers me, but I also don't think something like that will fly. I guess the only way to do your part is to write your rep, and make it professional.
