I just got back from a great trip to Canada. I've been a lot of places - but the drive from Banff to Jasper - well words don't do justice. I read a brochure that explains it to be the "world's most beautiful drive. " That sounds like words - but wow - wow - wow!!! Before you die - DRIVE THIS ROAD - you'll never forget it... . I never will. And I plan on going back with my grand kids... .

hammersley,

You hit the nail right on the head. That is one of the most beautiful drives. Did you happen to stay at the Whistler campground in Jasper. When we were there we had elk walk right though out camp, in fact, the brushed up agains me. I have found that Memorial Day weekend is a great time to make that trip. Mainly because the animals are down low below the snowline. In Baniff, elk, huge bulls were walking right down the street in town. We loved it!

Did stay at whistler - but only 1 night. No elk when I was there but all around the area. From Post Falls did yoy go up to Sandpoint, Libby and that way - or how do you go?

Sorry -

Shows how stupid I can be at times - Banff to Jasper means the two Canadian Rocky national parks that are west of Calgary and essentially north of the very western edge of Montana - above Glacier National Park . The scenery getting there is second to none... ... and the critters - wow. Th eonly thing a person has to get use to is the Glacier Flour in the water - making them seem milky. This is the action of the glaciers eating up the mountains - and the runoff is full of pulverised rock.

On the trip from Baniff to Jasper you will be on Hwy 93 and you will go through Baniff and Jasper National Parks.
