I have a 2000 3500 4WD DRW with a HO and 6 speed (HX Turbo). FASS and Westach fuel gauge installed. I am about to add a Westach dual gauge (EGT and Boost). I also have a Edge EZ and new intercooler boots (BD).

I will pull 6,000 to 8,000 pounds on the weekends. Do I want a 35 or 50 PSI boost gauge ? Also, do I want 1/8 or 1/4 in EGT probe (pre turbo)?

Thanks in advance.

I prefer a gauge that funtions in the bottom 75% of it's sweep. So I would go with the 50lb or 60 lb.

As far as the probe diameter, I don't know tht it matters too much. The 1/8" probe is quicker to respond, but it really depends on the gauge setup, ect. I would definately go pre turbo.

I agree. If you get the 60lb guage it will also cover you if you put on a different turbo like I just did that produces a little more boost. I didn't have to worry about replacing the guage. I mounted my pyro post turbo but now I wish I had done it pre so I would go with pre.

Go with the smaller 1/8th probe, it will react much quicker and show you what the temps really get too. I am convienced that there are lots of folks out there that have EGT issues that don't know it because they run big fat slow reacting probes.

definately put the probe pre turbo, I have seem BIG differences in pre and after turbo temps. usually you will see about 300 deg difference but not consistently. thats the problem. and definately go with the 60 psi, its good to have it when you might need it, beleive me

If you have ANY ambition of further mods get at least the 50# boost guage. I have a 40# and hit 35, and not that hot an engine-- my box is +90 hp, the EZ is 60?? My BD plug-n-power was 60 hp and ran just under 30#.

Pre turbo EGT seems to be the more accurate/faster response method. Mind you the 24v has a split manifold andyou will only be reading front or back 3 cyl's. Also the probe can and DOES break, destroying your turbo, but almost never happens if you look at the big picture. That being said mine is mounted post turbo on the spot in the elbow machined for that purpouse. If some thing can happen it will probly happen to me, so when my probe breaks it will just blow down the pipe.

Good luck and happy bombing!! Welcome to TDR, and take a moment to add your signature so we can see what youve done.

:) I'd go with the bigger gauge because it gives you room to grow(power is addicting) as for the pyrometer I would go smaller and pre turbo. Odds of it breaking off and going through your turbo would have to be about 1,000,000,000,000 to 1, and in my opinion thats a pretty safe bet. Just my opinion though.
