Where do you guys buy wire?

Need a quick education on lifts...

Why wouldn't they test the products on rust, perhaps a rusted bolt in a steel sleeve. X amount of time and split the sleeve to see how far it penetrated. Foam cups? Paper? What the heck. I am not a big fan of Pb. My most recent project, control arm bushings which were frozen tight saw pb, some kind of syn spray I had, and then liquid wrench all with heat applied. Only the liquid wrench penetrated all the way thru. Even with that and an air hammer I still had to sawzall a few bolts off. Gasoline melts styrofoam too but I wouldn't use it to loosen bolts. Is it me?

Good points, I'd like to see some tests using a torq wrench.

pb blaster works good for me, anything it cant loosen i use the torch on, it always comes loose when it is glowing bright red. :-laf or it just melts together and then i'm screwed. #@$%!

PB Blaster here too - man does that stuff stink though, get it on your hands and it'll be a while before you get the smell off.

Same here... anyone else think it smells like wasp killer? Makes you wonder...

I've been meaning to try Kroil, but for the most part PBlaster has done the job better than Liquid Wrench. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to use some of the more industrial-grade products.

WD-40 was never designed to be a penetrating oil... people just used it for that because occasionally it worked. "WD-40" stands for "Water Displacement - Formula #40" or something like that.

Fluid Film is good stuff but must work on item for a few hours. it also can be bought at Grainger Industrial Supply. I have seen it desolve rust for real, but if you have mostly rust you wont have anything left.

Another vote for PB B'laster. If it will get a fertilizer-corroded (read: salt-corroded) nut loose enough to come off w/o twisting off the bolt, it's good dope.

Never used PB Blaster, but saw it at OReillys today at lunch. Is 20. 99 a good price for it? Was a gallon jug and spray bottle, think the spray bottle was aluminum too. Might have to try it out, my Jeep has alot of rusty bolts after the army had it for 30 years.

Guess I've got to try some of the products that everybody mentioned here.

I must be stuck back in the Seventies. I'm still using- get this- Liquid Wrench.

Matter of fact I think that the can I currently use I bought back in the 1970's

Time flies.....

Had good luck with PB, but all the prof. mechanics I know use ZEP or Kroil. Wurth makes some good stuff, too.

How about a poll covering never seizes? we used to use milk of magnesia on industrial turbo bolts.

Like others, I've used PB and Liquid Wrench. I'm pretty disappointed in both. Usually by the time an assembly is so rusty it needs a penetrant to come loose, it's too rusted for PB or LW to handle.

I'd love to try some new stuff. The CRC freeze-off sounds great.

Notice LPS makes a product called LST. LPS certainly makes some exceptional products. These guys sell it.

i've got a few cans of that kicking around. . got some samples of it, along with some lps spray lube and electrical contact cleaner. . haven't used the penatrant, but the lube and contact cleaner work real well

Kerosene and ATF works pretty well.

i've heard of a different home brew. . diesel fuel and brake fluid. i have not tried it, but when i was in school, the teacher there said he has made up that mix a few times when servicing stuff in the bush and no pre canned penatrant avalable

I just ordered some Kroil from Kano labs. They have a special right now where you can get a free can with your purchase, so I got a can of the aerokroil too.
