VP might be the heart of the mighty Cummins, but you have to take care of the lungs too :). Kinda like a 3 pack a day guy worrying about his heart.

For a stock truck the stock filter works fine. Remove the boot from the finder to the air box. Drill some more holes in the lower fender side of the air box. The Amsoil Nano filter is good.



Or install a BHAF with an outwears cover. A BHAF will be noiser and you should install a heat shield. In the picture is a Larry-B SS heat shield. Filter in picture is the smaller NAPA 6637 air filter.



I took this off and am currently running a stock filter with extra holes in the box. Too noisy when towing hour afer hour. Note: Again the "LID" part if the box is the filtered air and the bottom or base in the unfilter air. So drill a few extra 1 or 1 1/4" holes in the fender side and bottom near the fender in the base, so it get cooler air from the area.
