Was driving back from a camping trip this weekend towing a light trailer (~3000 lb) and I had to stop fairly quickly, not to the floor with the brake pedal or anything like that, but fairly aggresive. When this happened the brake system made a pretty loud hissing sound (not ABS, it did not engage). I do have a problem with my steering box, for the last 10,000 miles or so when I am turning right there is a spot where the steering box will hiss as though there is a leak. I have been meaning to get it fixed but loath the thought of taking truck to dealer. Now the brake pedal is making this same sound. Somthing wrong with the hydroboost? Could this be related the steerring box issue? Both fluid levels are still full. With the truck stationary if I push on the brake pedal, about say half way to the floor, it will start to hiss but the pedal does not lose pressure it just hisses. I can also force the brake pedal to the floor if I push hard, is this normal? Of course this could have been the way it always was, but I never thought to try before this happened. Any thoughts before I call the dealer for warranty?
