Has anyone ever dealt with this tire? They are made in Indonesia by PT. Elangperdana Tyre Industries but I can't find out anything on their trailer tires. A small local tire dealer just changed hands so I went to the open house and was impressed by the operation. So I asked the Lady in charge of ordering tires if she could get me a 205/75R14 in 8 ply ( I have only found one 14" tire in 8 ply....(Kenda Karrier) ... might be ok but located in Ohio. It took a while but she came up with a new tire from a trailer tire source that handle Zeetex.

It is a new tire in a new size, 205/75R14 = 195R14C, no aspect ratio but is like an 80 series, so I bought a set for my little car trailer, $88.00 each. They are 8 ply, rated 2094 lbs @ 65psi. They do not have the "ST" in the size and do not say "trailer use only". She told me they were rated for 112 mph, I was like "NOT" she said yes they are!! The side wall says ZEETEX CT1000, all season, 106/104s...2 ply poly, 2 steel and 2 nylon on the tread and 2 poly sidewall. The lady seemed well informed and said it is a new tire in a new size. They look really good.

Here is a link.

If anyone can find out any info I would appreciate it, Thanks.

Here are some pictures of the trailer. It is a cool little 79"x14' 1991 Towmaster. Heavy duty little bugger, 3500lb axles rated 3'000, I think because of the L78x15 tires it come with from the factory. It has a 8730lb GVW, I think because of the heavy duty hitch. It was a commercial rental trailer with hydraulic surge brake hitch that was wore out and rusted beyond use. I replaced it with a Bulldog hitch, jack and electric brakes. New lights, small winch and now new tires. The mud flaps in the picture are covers for the winch and battery.

106/104s...

So, after a little more research the above numbers are the load index/speed rating. The 106 is the maximum load capacity at maximum air pressure or in this case 2094 lbs, but is not speed rated at maximum load. The 104s is a reduced load capacity of 1984 lbs and is speed rated to 112 mph.

If my understanding is correct, this might be an excellent tire for a 14" and could be a solution to buying 15" or 16" wheels and tires for a load capacity in the 3500 lb axle class. In my case I want to keep the trailer deck as low as possible to assist in loading small cars.

Can any of you tire guru's comment on this. Am I right or wrong in my understanding?

I too am interested in the quality of this tire. I'm stuck with a 14 inch tire on my travel trailer and don't want to buy another set of Goodyears. Got to be something better out there then Goodyear junk.

Interesting find, Nick. Never heard of the brand. I just looked on my distributor's site and in the 205/75-14 size there are a few P rated tires, and ST tires from Carlisle, Duro, etc., etc. I suppose if they don't have the ST designation they are not "trailer tires" per se, but that is certainly not to say that they are not only suitable, but likely better than the ST will-pops. I personally went with LTs on my box trailer simply because I just could not bring myself to buy another set of ST junk, regardless of brand. I'd like to get your feedback as you put them into service, but I would say you made a good move.

It sounds like you've answered your own questions Nick. S is the speed rating of 112 mph which is more commonly seen on P metric tires. LT tires are generally rated as "R" (106mph)

As for the brand of tires I cant help ya out there but Ive not seen any ST tires speed rated, so that's a bonus.

It looks like this new trailer tire size is being developed as we speak. Kumho is now building a 185R14C, 1874 lbs, 8 ply, 25.6", Q speed rated and a 205R14C, 2271 lbs, 8 ply, 27", Q rated (99 mph). They call it a series 82. Quite a bit more money but fine if they are any good.

Keep us up on the tire if you would Nick, I have a small trailer that I'm going to need tires on.

On my 3 axle stock trailer I went with Hercules tires, we had to have one of the tractors taken back to the shop for some retro fit work they sent a 9 axle, I was talking with the driver about his trailer tires they are the same size as the tires on the Stock trailer but are like 3 x the tire as what was on my trailer. I checked it out and bought the tires they are some tuff xxx tires will have to see how they workout in the long run but with quite a few miles on them and the only thing so far is the dirt and mud get on them, hold air like they are solid rubber tires, Never!!! seems like I have to add air.

Yes, I will post back/update when I know more, I don't use that trailer much so it might be awhile. I like Hurcules tires, here is a pic of one on my steer axle on my Ford, 215/75Rx17.5, 16 ply.

Are they by chance the H901's? Or are they specifically an ST tire?

Hercules POWER STR for trailers

ST235/85R16, 3960lbs per single application My stock trailer has 3 axles. 95 PSI

I believe the H901 tires are a lower load lbs and have a higher PSI 110 the tire dealer in town gave me the option but said that the STR tires would be better for the stock. the 901 tires are like ROCK and have a NON forgiving ride. So far the trailer has been loaded to the MAX or quite possibly over. Most often the bulls and steers are not picked up in the best of conditions for tires. I have ran them at speeds not really suggested & im sure that most legally sane people would drive, got out to squirt the dirt, catch a breath of air, kick the tires, check the stock and HAUL XXX for as far as another 100 gallons of Motion lotion would take me. I have a Milwaukee laser temp gun thermometer so when I get out I laze the hubs & tires of everything to keep track of a hot tire or hub. None are any different than the others. They aint a bad looking tire either with the aluminum rims and aluminum trailer with the white covered top and my white Dodge pulling it makes for a pretty slick looking rig. ;)

The H901 is an LT tire and is rated lower than the STR. All passenger tires are required to have a safety factor built into the load rating. The H901 looks more like a steer tire to me.

JR, the tires on my Ford in the pic are Hercules H902's, LRH, 135/133L (75mph), 5 steel tread and 1 steel sidewall, 16 ply. So far so good.

Nick

It looks like the H901 and H902 are similar in tread and compound, but I don't see any H902's available in 16". I need to buy 2 sets, I LRE and 1 set for my 14k GVW trailer. I was pretty well set on the Sailuns but may have to rethink these.

Thanks Nick.

Nick & JR

I have no idea about the 901 tires other than they WERE an option. I trust my tire guy he's the same one that has seemed to remedy the NAIL MAGNET tires on the Caddy. That's why when he suggested the STR tires as his choice of tires on a trailer (any trailer) that can be pulled by my Dodge I jumped on them. I don't know what the speed rating is on them but they have been 85 to 90 MPH for hours on end coming back from a Cattle run loaded to the Max & over, and they held up just fine.

BIG :D

JR, if you are in need of 16" trailer tires you might check these guys out. The Goodride CR960A. That's the same tire I have on my gooseneck, Westlake CR960A in 215/75Rx17.5 16 ply. That's the tire the local dealer wants to sell me for my next 14 ply, 16". I asked for Hercules but the other store sells them so her distributor wont sell them, seems kind of dumb.

Its interesting to see these ST tires carrying speed ratings. Both the Hercules BIG posted and Goodrides you linked are rated for 75mph. That's always been one of my biggest fears when towing with ST tires, although Ive not personally had a blow out that could be contributed to pushing the tire beyond its rated speed.

I think that like most things Manufactured there is a safety factor built in, You say that my tires are Rated for 75mph but I have ran them 10 to 20 mph faster than the rating for hours without problems, heat, overloaded and they are still on the rims and in one piece. Maybe im just lucky Maybe the Manufactures know that some A H is going to drive faster than the Rating and build in that factor of safety.
