i just got thru swapping a head gasket and a lift pump while i was at it.

anyways i had never had starting or leaking issues i figured i would change it while everything was out of the way and save the old one kinda thing. well now i can not get any fuel to the lift pump even. i pumped the heck out of that thing and when i finally got mad enough to take the sucker off again. there wasnt a drop of fuel in there.

things i am thinking are

somewhere in the starter removal a wire or something got pulled and broke seal on the fuel heater... ...

the housing cracked... .

the fuel filter was empty, dont know if that matters or not.

like i said i never had starting or leaking issues prior to the new lift pump, so is there something i missed when i installed it? i am a little on the side of frustrated at this point. i would greatly appreciate any and all help with this. i so just want my truck back... .

Lift pump

Put a little air pressure into the fuel tank. Leave a fitting cracked open a little so you can see when the fuel gets up to the pump. Thanks Steve B.

do you mean at the filler neck and what is a little psi? leave the into or out of fitting cracked open or would it be ok to leave the bleed screw open thanks as I had the same problem once .

Lift Pump

You need to put the air pressure into fuel filler neck. Just enought use your judgement if you don't have an aircompresser you can also use a shop vac that has a blow side on it. Also helps to have rear of truck higher than front when trying to get fuel to engine after fuel delivery system work. Yes any fitting on the pump or filter can be open just so you know that the fuel is getting up to the pump. Thanks Steve B.

I don't know if I agree with pressurizing the system. If the system is primed the truck will still run with a dead LP because the P-Pump will pull enough fuel to keep the truck running well.

I always install my FF empty and prime the system with the plunger on the LP.

I do however think it may be a good idea to pressurize the system to help located a fuel leak.

No fuel

I read in another post his truck has not run for 7 weeks. My take a little while to get pump primed. Thanks Steve B.

Agreed, if it has been idle that long it make take a little extra effort to get it to fire up again.

no it fired right up. i drove it to the hobby shop here on base. fired on the first crank. i will try the air thing. i tell you what if its not one thing with this truck its another, and its always an empty wallet.

thanks for that info ctd8999 my prob. was ice in the line I see you are from iceland that is why I am mentioning this good luck NBowlin

well guys/gals i got it sorted out. i took the fuel filter, fuel heater, and lift pump off the truck. i checked out all the lines hit them all up with some air and found no leaks. i then took apart the fuel heater and that center piece with the allen slot in it was loose as it could be. not sure if it was spose to be or not, so i figured that they wouldnt put that allen slot in there if they didnt want it tightened... . plus it was what secured that part to the top and seals it up... .....

then i put a stress ball ;) in the fill neck and put air thru a hoopty regulator thing i built to the tank. cracked the line on the filter that goes the the pump and started to see some air then bubbles and then lots of fuel. tightened the fitting and a little bit more and it started. then it all went to hell again, but that is for a different thread.
