Hello all ,

This is my first post on this awesome site, I hope this is the right section. I have a 2006 ram 3500 slt. I tried to hard wire my radar detector up to the overhead console. It works great except it does not turn off. I only found one hot wire so I wired it up to that. Are the any wire diagrams floating around here, or has anyone done this with success? Thank Jason

Go to: Home | Dodge Body Builder's Guide. Download the wiring diagram for your 2006 (big file, about 35megabytes). You don't need the dwg for this job, but good to have. You will need to access the back side of cig lighter for switched 20A power. Do a search on "dash removal", lots of posts on this.

I'd go get the procedure for you but its good practice surfing this excellent forum (welcome!). I'll check this post in few days to see how your'e doing. Pink wire with yellow tracer is your switched power. Don't forget to incorporate an in-line fuse. If you plan on more wiring, install a wiring panel (Genos Garage sells one). Once you've tapped in its easy to run the wire behind the removed A-pillar up to the ovhd console.

yes, but wouldn't it be nice to not have to turn it off and on every time you start or shut down the vehicle?

mine's wired to my cigarette lighter in my '04. I've got a key-on fuse tapped on my '98. both work great :)
