New TC update

Well after allot of research and many questions regarding different brands. After going to the RV show in Pleasanton and looking at all the campers represented. After spending countless hours looking at websites and analyzing features, capacities, floorplans and prices I think we have decided on our new TC.

Now we love our Bigfoot 10. 6. We have had it on two different trucks and taken it through most of the western states and into Beautiful BC and other parts of Canada. The camper is almost a friend, and has never let us down. We love the huge fresh water tank and the large dry shower. We love the clean appearance and the attention and questions people ask about the Bigfoot logo on the side. We are just looking for a little bigger unit as we are hoping to start taking longer trips soon.

Our beloved Bigfoot is for sale... said with much hesitation.

What will replace this camper? We are going down tomorrow to buy an Arctic Fox 1150 dry bath. The interior is volumous to say the least. The camper is loaded with every imaginable feature. (many I swore I would never own). Maybe I am just getting old and like the idea of a few more conveniences.

Are we crazy?

Looking for advice on what a 2003 Bigfoot 10. 6 might be worth. This camper is basically stock options. No gen, air, micro etc.

Thanks for any input.

Nope! I understand... we've been there! We did the same thing when we factory ordered our new '03 Lance 1121 with every option available plus some that aren't listed that the factory installed special for us per our request.

I'm glad we did it... haven't regretted it for a second.

Hope you enjoy yours as well! :)

Thanks Bill. We are heading over this morning to write them a check. Hope we have as good of luck with this one as we had with our Bigfoot.

Cheers,

Greg

on edit, I just checked out your camper pics Bill. Very nice set up. The truck and camper look perfect together!

I see this is your first post. Welcome!

TDR frowns on selling stuff on the open forum. I am sending you a pm now.

Arctic Fox

My wife and I just got back from the second weekend trip in our new AF1150. The camper had worked flawlessly until this morning around 11:00 am when we breaking camp to leave.

After loading up the camper, raising the jacks and completing our checklist to be road ready I was ready to go after moving the slide in. Hit the switch and the slide did not move. Just a clicking sound from the motor area. No problem I thought, there is a manual crank arm included with the camper, and I had read the instructions on how to release the motor and hand crank the slide in. The release lever would not budge. The camper was stuck with the slide out, leaving us trapped at the campground.

I called the RV place we got the camper hoping that a service type person might be there (not likely on a Sunday). As I suspected there was no service person to speak to, but they took my name and surprisingly I got a phone call back a few minutes later from their service guy from home. He walked me through all the stuff I has tried and we were still not able to get the slide to work. He told me that he would make a call and someone would get back to me.

A few minutes later Ron Nash, the owner of Northward Manufacturing called me. I was stunned to say the least that the owner of such a large company would call me from his home on a Sunday morning. Ron again went down the same list of suggestions to get my slide in and after again being unsuccessful he apologized for our inconvenience and said someone also would call shortly and get me squared away.

A few minutes later Lonnie Savage from Northwood called. He apologized several times for our inconvenience. Lonnie told me that if I were uncomfortable at all trying to fix it myself that they would get someone to me as soon as possible. I am not uncomfortable with tools, so we went to work.

He had me pull the cushion from our dinette, remove the plywood seat and access panel allowing access to the motor. He then guided me step by step through the process to unbolt the motor. Lonnie was so familiar with the product he even knew what size wrenches I would need. In about twenty minuets I had the slide motor free and was able to retract the slide and reinstall the motor to keep the slide in place. Lonnie told me that he would ship out a new motor first thing tomorrow and I could install it myself, or take it back to the dealer. Think I will do it myself.

The fact the Ron Nash called us today told me two things.

1. Ron stands behind his products and unlike so many larger business owners he leads by example. Ron cares about his customers. After talking to Ron I knew for fact that one way or another Ron Nash would take care of us.

2. Ron values his employees and tried to help me himself first, rather then bother an employee on his day off.

This is the second time I have dealt with Northwood, and both times the company has gone above and beyond with quick helpful service.

So hats off and a huge thank you to Ron, Lonnie, Cody and the rest of the team at Northwood Manufacturing. Any product can have a problem, it's what happens afterward that sets great companies like Northwood Manufacturing from the rest.

Wow, that is a big surprise to have the Northwood owner himself call you. It does indeed say something about the manufacture. I am planning on purchasing an Northwood Arctic Fox 5er soon.
