Rotella CJ-4...interesting observation...

Donaldson to supply mufflers??

Navistar International Corporation on Monday said that it is suspending production of the ‘Power Stroke’ diesel engine that it builds for Ford “because Ford has stopped honouring the terms of agreement under which the engines were built”.

Seems like there is more drama for Ford and International..... Last time it cost Ford over 100 Million to get International to bail them out... . How much this time?

I read that too but I understood it to mean school buses and vehicles like Fed Ex vans.

I read that in one of my school bus publications.

I hate to say it, but I think Ford is on the sever downhill slide. Even the die-hard fans are jumping ship! It's to bad, really they make a pretty solid "truck. " If they just had the engine and transmission to go with it.

Holy smokes, this "spat" between these two is getting serious! Not good!

They better get their act together soon or they (especially Ford) could loose a lot more than sales ...

Hey Green from Light & Medium Truck Report (2/27)

Navistar International Corp. said Monday it is suspending production of a diesel engine it builds for Ford Motor Co. because Ford has stopped honoring contract terms.

Ford uses the engines in its heavy-duty pickup trucks, which comprise about 40% of F-Series truck sales, Bloomberg News said. Navistar has been an engine supplier to Ford, the No. 2 U. S. automaker, since 1979, Navistar said in a statement.

Ford sued Navistar in January in a Michigan state court over a contract dispute regarding warranty costs and engine prices for the 6. 4-liter engines, Bloomberg said. Navistar is Ford's sole supplier of the engines, called Power Strokes.

The engines are produced at Navistar plants in Huntsville, Ala. , and Indianapolis. Navistar ships the engines to a Ford plant in Louisville, Ky. A company spokesman said the Indianapolis plant will be idled starting today, Bloomberg reported. Navistar is the parent company of International Truck and Engine Corp.

Ford lost a record $12. 7 billion last year and is counting on the redesigned truck to protect F-Series sales from competitors, Bloomberg said. Ford sold 796,039 F-Series trucks in the United States last year, a 12% decline from 2005, Bloomberg said.

The automaker said in the lawsuit that Navistar began raising prices for the engines "without adequate explanation or support for its actions," according to Bloomberg. Navistar said then that the suit was without merit.

Does this mean Ford will have to sale their Pickups without a Diesel, that's going to help sales. I can see the commercials now:

The new line of Superduty F series trucks are so great we lied about the new twin turbo diesel engine. Yup the best power plant you can get is this gas hungry V-10. So if you want a real truck go buy a Dodge.

one of two things. . they are having alot of problems with injectors failing again and they want to get them ironed out before footing the bill for warranty cost. second they are tossing the hot potatoe of 500 million dollar repair bill that the 6. 0 cost them. who ever get that bill will file chapter 11.

with all that said the stakes are high and mounting while toyota has a new diesel on the way and chevy and dodge building some badarss products Ford will probably loose another 12 billion.

They both stand to loose tons of $$$. When their little spat is over, they will shake hands and get back to work.

A little off topic I guess, but isn't it a little weird that anybody would stand in line to order a 6. 4 all new Ford diesel after all the 6. 0 probs? Blows me away.

you don't know how brand loyal to a fault many ford owners are, infact there where a few that after ford had bought back through lemon law proceedings 2 prior trucks they where still in line waiting for a 3rd. you have to question some people's intelegence

A couple guys on an atv site I visit said they plan to buy an '08, "Ford will work it out, they always do" was the comment

maybe I should have posted this under the topic "goofy things ford guys say"

My brother-in-law and my next door neighbor are so ferd loyal it's pathetic. They wouldn't have one of those rattle trap Dodge no matter what engine they have. They would rather spend all their time and money at the dealer getting them repaired.

I think this is in response to the suit Ford brought against Navistar for "extradorinary warranty claims on the 6. 0L diesel" that I read about a while ago in the Wall St Journal. So the soup nazi said "no more soup for YOU!" to Ford. I read in yesterday's Wall St Journal that Ford is cancelling

2nd and 3rd shift operations at it's truck plant in Kentucky because they have not received any 6. 0L diesels since Feb 22nd.

All I can say is I'm glad I peddled my '06 Ford 6. 0 SD and found my way back to the DHC CDT fold. I strayed away for 15 mos but never liked the Ford for a minute. With all of the warranty claims for head gaskets, injector's and engine faliures I was hearing about on top of low power, pathetic fuel economy and rotten handling, I just couldn't stand it anymore!

I guess Ford isn't going to be able to screw over IH like they did Firestone. I would hate to see them get the Cummins though. Maybe they can fool MB into selling them engines. Ford electronics would make an anvil inoperable pretty quick!

How could you ever leave the CTD fold?

LOL!! I dropped my guard and allowed myself to be convinced by a friend who's a dyed-in-the-wool Ford guy that Ford was a better all around truck. At the same time, an A-Plan deal on the Ford fell in my lap, which put it way below the tariff DCH had on the CTD once the friends and family discounts went away. What it boiled down to, is that I hadn't shopped enough... didn't drive Dodge or Ford more than once before making up my mind.

Saw in the newspaper yesterday that a judge in Michigan ordered International to continue with production of diesel engines and supply Ferd with them.
