hmmm this looks fun

Okay, Over the top detailing

I love my truck, in 4 or 5 years I have not had to shovel the drive. Not once. Plow pack over knee high? Drive right thru it. But with 12 inches of snow last weekend and at least that today, with a bunch more to come. . We are getting like an inch an hour. I may have to shovel. . Can the old girl really be stopped?

Just how deep can it get before my macho is shattered?

Man.

What are you running for tires? With light snow, I have no problem in 20" if it is flat and there isn't ice underneath. Chains make it even more capable. Then again, I have gotten stuck in 1" of snow when we had a really bad ice storm 2 years ago.

The one problem with these things is once you get them stuck, they are kind of heavy and hard to pull out.

Running the Michelins. . LTX M/S. could drop the pressures down from towing pressure to get better traction I suppose. But backing her in tonite I left an axle

groove in the snow. Gonna hope for the best. 4lo is too torquey. spins the wheels with just a hint of clutch. sloppy wet stuff is the worst. but it is SOOOO

much fun to drive in. :)

I blew thru a drift about 1. 5' high this afternoon. Didn't take any effort at all. I know 1. 5' isn't much, but this is heavy wet stuff. Dad's '03 with 285 BFG mud terrains actually floated on top off the snow.

Mom works at a nursing home and she didn't want to "call in" so I gave her a ride to town. I came home in 2wd. Not as bad as I expected.

Only thing I hate about the CTD is turning on snow in 4wd. Neither end will slip enough to avoid the 4wd knock/hop. Maybe I should be running a highway tread instead. They don't look all that impressive, but Sumitomo 918's have excellent snow traction.

C'mon, where's your sense of adventure? I like busting thru the drifts that come over the hood and blind you for a few moments. :p (just hope there isn't a Kia in it  )

I had 35 " Pro Comp mud terrains on my 02 in Colorado a few years back on a hunting trip and was going up the logging road pushing snow with my bumper. Figgered it was about 3' deep. Just got to keep your momentum going. Plus, I thought if I couldn't go any further I could just back downhill;)

I have Michelin XC/LT4's on my CTD, which are similar, & I plow with mine with no problems. Put a plow on it,& never have to shovel your driveway again. It's like plowing with a bulldozer...

I can vouch for EKlem's statement about getting stuck in 1" of snow when there's ice. If I can dig up them up, I'll post the pictures of his truck off in the pucker brush. My dad has buried his '06 in our driveway three different times this year with the snow storms we've been getting here in the northeast. The first time he had snow coming over the hood even with the snow plow all the way up. Had to dig him out with the excavator that time.
