Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Brake adjuster cable on rear

My brake adjuster cable keeps coming off on driver side rear, after I fix it it's ok for a couple of days then it comes off again. Please help I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong? my rear has drums the truck that is haha, and also why do some 2001's have disk and drums and some have all disk?

To answer your second question, about half way through the 01 model year, all of the 2500 and 3500's went to all disk. I'm not sure what the magical date is though.

I assume that your writing about the emergency brake cable? The cable hold-down for the sleeve should be interlocking nuts. The cable to cam over control to the brake shoes is slip fit.

maybe I'm not asking the right thing? the cable for the brake adjuster keeps coming off. Maybe I need to take a picture to show what I'm talking about.
