Not a bad idea. I do need navigation here in Texas. Doesn't Pioneer make a flip out with a speedo as well? And navigation? And DVD?

But I was really thinking more in terms of a gauge. Just want to know how fast I am going because my speedo stops at 90 :-laf

A buddy has a Garmin navigation device and took it on a plane with him. He kept the recorded speed as a bragging tool, 550 MPH. :-laf

I don't have any first hand information, but...

There is a speed sensor connection for most of the new radio heads that will ramp up the volume as speed increases. Maybe that could be a source from the speed sensor signal.

I would contact the major instrument suppliers that sell speedometers for hot rods, resto-mods, customs. Surely they have a sensor or connection scheme to feed the signal to their speedometers. They sell the complete package.

I have the AVIC-N1 which does this. The current model is the N3. It has a gauge display that includes speed, acceleration, angular velocity, etc. The speedo is accurate to within . 1mph and updates much more rapidly than GPS since it's tied to the transmission RPM.

My Garman has a speedo and the Edge/Attitude also has this feature. It seems like it would be a waste of dash space to have a second gauge just for mph.
