Competition New Dyno Numbers

We just installed a redline fms on a friends 01' today. For the moment we left the drag comp completely disconnected while he gets familiar with the redline operation. Has anyone stacked a drag comp with a redline? Any benefits or dangers in stacking these two? Thanks in advance

Dave

Not to sure, I think some one here stacked an FMS with a reg comp. So it might work? Hopefully they will chime in. But that redline is one BAD box huh... . :-laf

here is some good info from Doug:

We did some dyno testing on the stacks mentioned and the results would surprise you..... The Drag Comp alone made great numbers when adding a Smarty the dyno numbers went down. The best combo was the TST Comp stacked with an EZ. I will see if I can find the graphs and post them.

The deal is that the TST, Redline, and Drag Comp all made very similiar numbers (within 10 HP of each), if the RD and TST were stacked with an EZ. Dollar for dollar the DC is the best bargain and has the nicest manners. If max HP was my goal I would use a TST/EZ, for sledpulling or racing I would consider the RD/EZ.

Yeah, the Redline is a bad dude Oo. , it just keeps on pulling. It's amazing how these motors can move +7000lbs :-laf We are hoping he will be ok on the pump. He is running a HRVP, good delivery system, head/block are fire ringed and studded. It seems easy enough to stack the comp as an ez at the boost sensor. He is wondering about tapping the pump for the drag comp? both the redline and the comp tap the pump, so do we tap the pump wire twice  Are there any dangers/benefits to having both boxes on?

Dave

do not tap the pump wire twice---you can use the drag comp as an EZ if you desire to stack them---Doug has all the info on this maybe he'll chime in----chris

The Redline is in a whole different league compared to a drag comp when it comes to fueling. If you read Blue Chip's web site, the Redline ignores the trucks ecm and assumes control of the vp-44 completely. Two different animals.

Thanks guys for all the replies. We really weren't sure about stacking the two of them. We may stack the comp as an ez later on, but the Redline sure does pull hard all by iteself

Don't tap the pump twice. If he has a HRVP, he will probably not need to stack with the Edge. Most HRVP's supply their own advance. You may actually lose some hp on the top end with the Edge stacked.

I would think the timing advance of the edge and HRVP with a cam that allows a little more RPM would be beneficial especially in the 4-4300 rpm range. But then again I guess the edge doesn't control the pump above the 3300-3400 range.

basicly your comp will act like an easy for timing only. I cant remember but you have to hook up the map sensor in certain order! I can take a look on my truck if no one chimes in.

Increasing the advance for more rpm only goes so far. I know on my truck, the HRVP44 and the edge comp were to much timing on the top end. The 60' times decreased when I added the HRVP44, but the top end had to much timing. You could feel it start doing the "timing surge" at higher rpms. Putting in a TST Comp (no timing), and the top end picked up, and no timing surge. I will be trying a Redline box next. Whatever combo works out the best, is what I will be going with. Oh, yeah. I left the Edge Comp stacked, so I could just turn it on to add more timing. As soon as I turn it one, you can hear the timing advance, and feel the hp decrease.

if you guys could let me know, I have a drage comp, and am buying a redline off of a guy, so whats the best horsepower combo?? I used to pull but now i'm thinking street and track drag racing...
