2007 Scranton Pennsylvania Saint Patrick's Day Parade

Parade Meeting location

Ok everyone here it is, as much as I know at this point. The parade is obviously Saturday, March 10, 2007. The start time is 11:45 A. M. I have not been told as of yet what division we are in. This will determine our meeting time. However after some careful considerations and thinking, I have decided to let everyone meet away from the parade route and then I will meet up with all of you and take you to the beginning of the parade route to avoid the HELL traffic patterns of the parade. Basically if I told you how to get to the parade beginning, the Scranton Police would close a street that I was not aware of and would get you lost.



I believe everyone will be coming from South of Scranton on I-81. So I am basing my directions on that. If someone needs more specific directions let me know and I will get you here.



Take 81 North to the River Street Exit (I believe it is exit 184)



When you get off of the exit turn left. This will put you on to River Street. Go down about 1000 feet and their will be a gas station on the right. I believe it is a U. S. Mini Market with a Subway Hoagie shop inside. (They have Diesel Fuel for anyone that needs it) Pull into the parking lot and that is where we will all be meeting at on Saturday morning. Like I said above I don't know where in the parade we are starting so I don't know a meeting time as of yet. I will post a time as soon as I have it. Also if you are not able to make it please P. M. me and let me know. I think i have posted everything if not just ask and I will do everything to answer them.

Final Time

Ok everyone, We will be meeting at the U. S. Mini Market at 11:00 A. M. I was told by the Parade Director that the Parade will begin at 11:45 A. M. He would like everyone to be in line before that time so I was told to be there early.





What I was told is that they will be getting everyone lined up and that we can either stay with the trucks or leave (to go get a coffee or whatever their are a few restaurants close by within walking distance). So I will be seeing everyone at 11:00 A. M. at the U. S. Mini Market.



I will be handing out the TDR give-a-ways at the parade line up area. Everyone will be getting something (I think) thanks to Robin.

I will almost guarantee unless their is a monsoon they will not cancel this parade. If you would like to hand out candy you may, however you may not throw it from a vehicle acording to the rules. Keep in mind that if you want to hand it out the windows the children may have to get close to the truck which means they could end up in your blind spot and their may be a problem. The last thing I want in the paper on Sunday is "TDR truck runs over kid going for candy" so please use you best judgement if you want to do this. Besides that they might scratch the paint.

I'm staying at the Holiday Inn right off of 81 in Dunmore I think. It's just North of where we're meeting up. Hopefully I'll get in sometime around 5 or 6. I'm about to leave in the next couple of minutes.

I dont know if you have internet access or not but if you are coming from Dunmore you need to get off 81-S Moosic street exit turn right then turn left at the light, go up the hill and the gas station will be on the left.

Does everyone think they would like to go for dinner or something after the parade ? Obviously we can pick somewhere not near the parade so we dont have to wait 7 hrs for a table.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to thank everyone that showed up yesterday for the St. Patrick's day parade. I would like to ask everyone that came yesterday to send me your name, TDR screen name, location, and vehicle so when Iwrite my article to Robin at TDR I get everything correct. If anyone that took any pictures could e-mail them to me at -- email address removed -- I would greatly appriciate it. I will do a follow up when I get everything together.
