I need to buy two exhaust brakes for an 05 and 03 and was wondering which ones everyone feels are the best ?

I also would like to know where is the best place to buy from ?

This man's opinion: Pac Brake PRXB. Got mine from Pacific Brake & Clutch (PM member "Jelag")

I assume you have manual transmissions in both trucks. If not, you'll need some other equipment (torque converter lockup device).

I paid $1000 for my Pac, Shifter Switch, air tank, and higher pressure switch (the tanks come standard now). Installed myself in about 3 hours. No rushing, either.

If you check the retail prices of the PacBrake PRXB (on 3rd gen CTD's) you will find that they will run over $1400. You can have one sent from Pacific Brake for under $1000 and they pay the freight. If you have an auto, they will be a little bit more. When you call them, just tell them you are a member of the TDR... :)

Seems like people have less problems with the PacBrake overall, mostly because of compressor failures with the Jake but you'll be happy with either one really.

Technically, the Jake uses an engine mounted vacuum pump. The Pac uses a compressor. That's another reason I went with the Pac - I now have a compressor for my air bags (full Trail Air on the 5er) and air horns.

I bought my Pac Brake from Jelag too. Jim answered my e-mails for over 2 weeks asking him questions trying to get my old Pac Brake working properly. He never once told me just to buy a new one from him. But I decided enough was enough and ordered a new one from him. He will go out of his way to help you.

I got a Pak xb from jelag and when I called Jim talked with me for a considerable amount of time and didn't rush me into making a hasty decision. I got a good price when I was ready to buy. Thanks

Another Jelag PRXB vote. But to state the obvious- it's cheaper to make air pressure than vacuum. (air compressors are generic)

I bought 2 ebrakes on ebay. I paid $260 for a 04 Jacobs brake complete with wiring, switches, vacuum pump & all..... even a shifter switch [stalk switch]. The other was a brand new 04. 5 jacobs brake for $300, but no pump or anything came with it..... had $200 more for new parts to install it.
