Is the pipe aluminized or stainless? The catalogue and website don't say. I'm trying to decide between it and a muffler that will work with the stock pipes (if I can find one)!

Its aluminized. We put one on my dads 03' and it sounds awesome. Its kind of loud but it is still cool. I have a MBRP mufler on my 05' and it sounds good too,but not as cool as the strait pipe.

I vote for the ME Kit also. Sounds good, not real loud. Plus it was a 100. 00 so you really can't go wrong, I switched it over in my driveway with a sawzall and sockets in about 45 minutes. Scotty

I had read on a previous post that it is stainless. Im getting ready to order one myself, so I called Geno's and they said it is aluminized. Their website has them listed at 70 bucks now.

When you cut the stock muffler out, does the ME fit in without any problems?

I cant deceide whether to go with the ME or MBRP.

Dont want noise much louder in the cab than stock

If you want quieter don't get the M/E. It is alot louder but sounds way cool especially when you want to dust someone off and punch it. I have MBRP and it is a good compromise between stock and the M/E.

Those are the two options I'm considering too. Personally, I love loud pipes, but I am hesitant to give the local smokies another reason to pull me over. It's kind of nice to be able to stomp on it in town and not have to be looking for berries and cherries all the time. The devil on my shoulder will probably eventually win out though. I can't let this be the first truck I've owned that stays factory quiet!

Anyone with the ME kits have any drone issue?? I can't put money together yet for a set of duals and what a louder truck and NO DRONE:D

I ran the ME kit for about a year, the drone drove me crazy. I have 2 buddys at work that are straight piped and have no drone. But mine is a short bed and theirs are long beds. Maybe the lengths of the trucks have something to do with it.

I ended up with the Rokktech silent might muffler, that was the best and cheapest mod I've done. Sounds mean as hell and no DRONE, even when towing.

I had the ME kit on but after pulling my 18k Toybox thru a few canyons and had my back slider open, I then realized how loud it is under load, so I decided to install a flow thru muffler, much better now.

Likewise... how is the install and truely how loud is the ME vs. say MBRP? The replies all over the board from loud so I changed back, to it is`nt to bad. Does short vs. long bed play a part?

I recall some one saying something about a Tom-cat (?) it replaced the tail pipe from the cat along with the muffler, not the whole exhaust system. I tow a 5th at 12k lbs. No box or chip, stock, I don`t want to wake up every one up in the morning!!!

Yeah, it fits in, although it will require some force to get it in there. Getting the old muffler off is one of the most difficult things I have ever done, I did not have a sawz-all.

The MEK is loud, especially when WOT, and at highway speeds, isn't too bad, although I really don't remember what it sounded like stock.

On an auto, there will be drone at exactly 1500 RPM.

My mileage went up at least 1 MPG.

FWIW, although I like the sound, I am currently toying with the idea of an aftermarket exhaust, because it (pipe) drowns out the noise of the motor, which is why I bought the truck!!

Does the MBRP replace just the muffler, or does it replace the short piece of pipe between the muffler and cat. How long is the muffler in the MBRP kit.
