My truck is surging every time my speedometer reaches about 45-50 MPH at approximately 1600 RPMs. Anybody have any ideas?

1999 RAM 2500, 5. 9 L diesel, 24 valve, automatic transmission.

That would probably be the transmission shifting in and out of OD or stacked shifting (trans hunting for the right gear). Do a search there are a few simple and free things to try to fix this before spending money on an electrical noise filter from DTT trans or APPS.

Welcome to TDR lots of info here. Use the search function it will provide hours of reading for specific problems.

Try to kick the od off and see if this helps.

Are you stock or do you have any mods?

Ok, I will try turning the OD off and see if I still have the problem. I have made no modifications to the truck at all. I'm totally stock. Hopefully, it's not the APPS sensor because I believe that is a $500. 00 part. Thanks for your help.

If that is happening at very light throttle and it is going in and out of od,the first step should be to flash the pcm on a 99. Then if it is not start in with the noise abatement program... ... .....
