APPS Stands for accelerator pedal position sensor. A potientiometer mounted close to the injection pump to sense how much throttle you are asking for so the engine management computer can increase fuel to the engine in response to your foot.

Anything that uses the newer CR Cummins engines has a type of APPS on them. Its how the ECU knows to control the fueling, rpm's, etc.

They are not nounted on the engines in the trucks anymore, on the firewall and accelerator pedal hooks directly to it.

Mine is an 04. 5 and has the apps engine mounted, Rich at Glacier Diesel told me he has seen 03-04. 5 on both the firewall and engine. I think the 2nd gen 24v engines have an apps also.

Thanks for the responses. I was asking for the purpose of mounting a filter setup from Glacier Diesel. I like the look of the kit that mounts where my APPS is already mounted, on the engine. Anyone have pictures of a universal kit mounted to their truck? Any suggestions on where else to mount a filter setup?

Just mount it on the frame rail in an easy-to-access place. Rich has a kit for the remote mount set-up. Sorry, no pics.

Pictures of your Glacier Diesel MK-2 filter mount?

I'm looking at getting the:
[h=1]'03-'05 Dodge Ram MK-2 + Big Line (APPS Mount)[/h]and can't visualize how it's mounted with the APPS in the way. Thanks.

For what its worth, I recently replaced the APPS w/ Timbo as a preventative measure. 155k and 12 years plus long trips. I didn't want to deal with it going down on a long trip.
