I Know theres been quite a few threads started for south bends already but i havent seen this question any where? Ive got a 40ft fifth wheel camper about 18000lbs. and i want to do a clutch upgrade but i dont want to have the grabby clutch problems when trying to back this long camper!

So i was wondering if anyone has any installed DD south bends that pull any type of heavy long trailers that could tell me how it feels when driveing down the highway and also backing them up into tight spots?

I dont have a southbend but i pull trailers and the sled with my EEP DD clutch with no problems, Your transmission will be alot louder with a DD unless you get the new southbend with the springs in the center off the clutch plates. .

When you back that big trailer up just put it in 4low.

Almost any DD will be grabby when backing the trailer you just have to burn the clutch in good and it will get smother.

If you find that you dont like it or 4low is to hard to back in tight spaces they have a 2 low kit out that makes backing trailers with the bigger clutches real nice.

I'm currently on the fence about upgrading my OFE to one of South Bend's all-organic dual disks. I'm thinking that the organic facings will not have the grabby-ness of the metal-metal contact of the OFE, but for $1700 that would be an expensive experiment...

Hahahaha!

HA thats funny remove the front drive shaft ya your creative but i think ill pass on that one. Sounds like we need to beg some company to make a 2 low kit for 3rd gen trucks! or is that even possible i dont know how it even works?
