I will probably swap in my ATS exhaust manifold this coming weekend. Any tips to prep me & make life easy? Any special/funny little wrenches I should buy?

Thanx.

penetrating oil, patience, long extensions, maybe a fender cover, and you can re-use the gaskets if you are careful

hope this helps

When you take off the stock manifold bolt it and your ATS together so you can get all bolt holes lined up perfectly.

My only issue was one of the tubes/hoses for the heater. It's secured with one of the bolts on #4 or#5 and was a PITA to get off. I did not want to disconnect any of the hoses, but I had to IIRC. Other than the heater hose issue, it was relatively easy and painless.

I did have to take the turbo off with the manifold because I couldn't get one of the bolts to come off the mounting flange where the turbo mounts to the manifold.

I cut through that heater hose bracket with a hack saw, then when I got the manifold and turbo back on, I spliced it with 1/8" thick metal strap and two self tapping screws, hit it with a shot of black primer. Next time it will be much simpler.

It is easiest(IMO) to remove and install the manifold and turbo as a single unit, be sure to connect your oil return line to your turbo while it is off your truck.

Be Patient:) , Jess

just installed one in my truck two weeks ago. The manifold came out easy. the nuts on the turbo bottom studs were hard to get to. I replaced the gaskets at the same time both exhaust and turbo.
