What to do with original serp belt?

I had my dealer add a Jacobs exhaust brake to my 2006 automatic, with A/C.

This required a different serp belt to run the pump. My question is: Can I use the old belt in an emergency, if the new one breaks? I realize that the Jake Brake wouldn't work, but would the old one still be able to be used to operate everything else?

Yessssssssssssss. That`s exactly what to do with it. Or you could buy another one that fits with the exhaust brake and send me your old one.....

As I understand it you can use the original belt in an emergency and just bypass the Ebrakes vac pump.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, it seems to me that I've read of Vac. Pump failures on the Jacobs brakes. If the pump seizes, then having another Jacobs style belt wouldn't do you any good. Having an extra stock belt might be a good alternative.

I think that's what he was getting at saying that he was wondering what to do with his old belt. Another thing you can do with an old belt, is take some vice grips and make a strap wrench out of it.

I put mine in the box behind the seat for just in case. I don't think I'd throw it away. They do cost a few bucks!

AMink and several others gave you good advise which I already planned to do myself, that is to carry the OEM belt as a spare.
