What are the Tundra owners smoking?

Dodge/Cummins Light Duty Diesel

My 06 is bad enough with lites that shut themselfs off and the dam horm honking when i back up with door open. I wonder about doing a 12 valve transplant into the 06?

That would be so nice to have a mechanical pump , no common rail and electronic injectors to mess with.

I shouldnt complain the 3rd gen is the best truck I have ever owned.

Nothing new, and in fact, I like it. Some poeple like my father change their oil whenever they get around to it... With a light, they can remmember.

He has 4 oil changes on regular oil in 72,000 miles, and his truck gets worked pretty hard (we tow a trailer that wieghs 19k)

Also, if you tow heavy, for a few weeks, then not at all, the light would tell you to change your oil. What if it tells you to change the oil earlier than expectetd? You wouldn't have caught that. . or later,, hey save some $$.

Anyway, GM's have had this feature since '99. Works allright, but can be tricky to reset.

Awesome!... Than make that feature optional, my point to this thread is obviousely the ECM is recording more and more information from driver input which I would think is no different than having someone watching your every move so that if necessary that info can and will be used at their discretion without any regard for us (the consumer)or if we disagree with it. IMHO it's borderline invasion of your privacy. Think about it... ...

BTW all the more reason not to buy a GM either

Fewer parts fewer problems I have had a number of problems with some of the Chevys that I used to own. It really ticks you off when you spend a night on the side of the road in the nevada desert because some wire rubbed a hole and shorted out some sensors. Give me the old and mechanical

Tell it brothers, my 75 Ford Backhoe cranks quicker than my HPCR - ECM - CP3 06 Truck, I do love it, but just more to fail. I don't think they are, or will ever be as reliable as old mechanical pump with no electronics. But, alas, those days are over.
