Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Which LP Pump?

Ok, I have read and reread hundreds of posts on different LP setups. I don't consider cost between the many pumps available to be a factor. I want to change pump once and be done with it and not look back.

I have the intank pump which I am getting rid of. This being said these are the options I have:

Find a used canister-easier said then done.

1. Do the Draw Straw and get the GFS 392 from Glacier with strainer and regulator.

2. Do the draw Straw and get the Fass150.

3. Draw Straw and Air Dog.

Fire away guys and if I am missing something here let me know that also...

AirDog. And since you have the intank pump, the Draw Straw.

I have 140,000 miles on mine with zero issues.

I did your number 1 except with a 391 and have good results.



In the end, I think you have it pinned. Too many good choices just adds confusion. It is easier with only one good choice so feel lucky.

How about leaving the pump in the tank and have it plumbed as a backup? I am thinking of that after looking at whats needed as my original pump was replaced with an in tank pump while under warranty. Fuel (diesel) for thought... .

i'm running your choice number one, and so far it works awesome. solid fuel pressure, and no problems at all.

sheldon, What are you thinking of doing? Running another pump in line with the intank pump or bypassing and cutting another hole in tank for draw straw II, add another pump with that?

I would say shoot for #1 and due to your situation, I'd run a pickup tube to bypass the intank pump.

There is a member out there that did this with the IP but I can't remeber who it is or what post it is described in... .

I was thinking of cutting another hole for the draw straw and adding a pump. Since the pump is in the tank I might as well leave it there have a valve and switch so I switch back to the tank pump if the need happens...
