My brother is looking at buying a 90-93 2 wd, std or ext cab, with an automatic, what kind of mileage do these trucks get, my 4x4 gets 21 but I'm also a 5-spd, thanks

I think it depends on how you drive. If you race around of course you will get bad milage. I can tell what kind of milage I will get the next time I fuel up by the way I drove that week. Mine usually gets about 18mpg. Does he know how to find out what milage he gets? Because the older trucks don't have the computer to tell you what you get. Hope this helps.

Best I ever got in my 92 when it was totally stock was 21 mpg at 75-80 mph. Never drove it much slower than that any distance. :)

Now, it will still get 21+ at 75-80 with twice the HP and TQ. All depends on how you drive them and set them up.

The earlier 1st gen auto trucks 89-90 had 727's so they did not have any overdrive. I estimated my 90 at 18 MPG on the fwy in the Trashville area.

For some reason, and I haven't found it yet, my stock 93 only gives me in the range of 9. 5-11 MPG no matter how I drive, how long or short the trips or if the weather is warm or cold... . Wish I could find the trouble.
