Says it's a flip down, can't be too awful in price? Well, maybe it could. Says it will be available in the spring of 2007 - aren't we there yet?

looks cool, and it's a great idea. But like their running boards, I wonder how they will work when caked with ice (or mud). I saw a 2500 today with his boards "locked" in the down position because of ice. Can't be good for 'em.

I have the amp research power side steps, and even after driving in 10 degree weather and through slush and ice, I've never had an issue of them not going down or coming back up. I did notice however, that amp only puts a meager spray of lithium grease on the gearset that actuates the steps. I placed a hefty wad of moly wheel bearing grease in there before installing the motors, so this may be keeping my system healthier than the installed-as-purchased ones. Also, I noticed that attention to detail during installation is critical as misaligning the step, causing thrust loads on the bearings seems to overwork the motors and its easier to accidentally do than you'd think. Prior to installing the motors, the steps should glide with no more force than the touch of a finger.

I don't think it would be much of a problem through normal winter conditions, but up here I frequently have about 6" of ice hanging off the rockers on mine, so I'm not sure they would work so hot:confused:

I had a customer when I was working at a dealer and we talked about installing them with a switch mounted in the cab for each side of the step. That way when it was really icy they could choose when to use them or not. She had them replaced on her old H2 several times because of ice and the motor would stop working.

Forgot to add, I have the mopar front mudguards, they really keep a lot of the crap off the rockers and steps.

YMMV :)

I checked two dealers in the Los Angles area and both said they weren't available, yet; everything is backed up.
