TFarrell don't worry mate your not alone. I have the MBRP replacement muffler on my 05 for 30,000 miles and at cruise it is quiet as stock. Nice rumble if I get into it. I have no drone what so ever. Saw a drop of 50-75 degrees egt. Been very happy with this setup. So we got the only TWO quiet MBRP mufflers or they just work well on 05 rigs.

I guess everyone has different levels of tolerance. I couldn't stand the noise of my MBRP exhaust with a resonator in front of the muffler. The drone would rattle my eardrums at 2000rpm. Now I'm using the MBRP muffler in front of a Rok-Tech. It still has a throaty roar without drone, lower EGT's, and 4" from the turbo to the tip.

I am having the same problems with my MBRP exhaust to much drone and I have the resonator in front of the muffler,it helped but it still drones perty bad under a load, how much did the Rok-Tech muffler cost, and where did you get it,and did it kill the drone????let me know

just sell your "loud trucks" and buy a toyota prius. they are very very quiet. and if that doesnt do the trick stick cotton balls in your ears

I have a straight thru muffler and it has a drone so I bought a resonator from Cummins (fleetwood/Nelson I belive) $72 but have not installed it yet.

I have been using the 4040xl aeroturbine(built in resonater) and kept the kitty and my truck is almost drone free. Cruising down the highway 1600-2300 absolutely no drone. Strarting from stop 1600-2300 a small amount of drone if I get on it quickly, I installed it in the same location as the factory muff.

just my 2cents

I'm going to speculate that those of you without drone are also not towing a heavy load down the highway at a steady 2000-2200 RPM. Even my stock exhaust had a pretty discernable drone under those conditions. I now have a Magnaflow exhaust with 4" pipe. It's just a little louder and deeper than stock - no resonator, but angle iron strapped to the pipe.

Oh yeah, lots of coats of Quiet Coat all over the cab, doors, firewall, fenders, and oil pan. Between the HO 24 valve - VP44 rattle, wind noise, and road noise, I can almost hear the exhaust. It's not exactly quite, but way better than stock.

Shhhh! :)

There is only one exhaust company that deals with the issue of droning using a patented technology. This company is Corsa Performance Exhaust. They use a patented reflective sound cancellation technology to remove drone. Here is a link to there Audio files. http://www.corsaperf.com/dodge_ram_cummins.htm This exhaust is amazing. I found this after buying a 4" system that droned so bad my wife and kids did not want to ride in the truck anymore.

What about gutting the cat, mine drones more without the cat, what would it do to gut it and put it back on as far as sound and drone ??

Anyone done this ?

i must be deaf because i have no drone on my mbrp muffler and no cat. it sounds stock unless you floor it. and if you dont have the passenger side window open i can hear feathers fall on a pillow. with the window open it sounds nice though.

yeah same, my dad put on a mbrp dual 4 inch exhaust system and i cant really hear anything in the cab that much untill you really floor it or the windows are down and your sitting in the back. :-laf

I agree! My truck is just fine without a load and I can listen to the radio and converse without yelling. It's quite comfortable, until you add the heavy load. Then I have a drone so bad the floor boards in the cab are viberating your feet. That gets annoying very quickly.
