Thanks for the pictures.

This is what Adam sold me. Ordered Jan 15, 07, and delivered March 1, 07.

Mel I like your A. R. E. cap. I have one just like it. I have only seen two more like it one the road. The walk through door is great, and with the whole back open it sure is easy to climb into the bed of the truck.

Mel your truck looks awesome! How are you getting 19. 1 mpg? What kind of driving are you doing? The only difference in our trucks in Mega vs Quad but that shouldn't effect the mileage that much, and you have Michelin LTX Tires and I have the BF Goodrich. Let me know, I like your mileage numbers much better.

Brad, as far as I know the flares only come in black but they are listed as paintable, so you can paint them any color to match.

19.1 Mpg

How did I get 19. 1MPG, you ask? I realy do not know. Generaly I am a steedy driver. Maybe it was the first 1500 miles or so I varied the speed and/or the RPM’s every 5 minutes not to exceed 60 mph. I am generally a steady driver. My testimony is witnessed by the enclosed pictures taken on March 21, 07. That particular stretch of highway was on the last leg in the home stretch to Texas. Which was I-40 from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Amarillo, Texas. As you can see I set the cruize control on 72mph. I noticed Fred, FPettijohn, on an previous post had a different solution for breaking-in a green engine. I guess it is what ever works for you.

Y-thank you. I was fortunate to come across this used ARE which matched the silver of my truck perfectly. You are right about the design, well thought out. The shell is for my wifes dog, Molly. I know life to be good, but the dog has its day, every day.

Now I am looking for a well made, used, Toy Hauler. Any ideas?

Ain't life grand!

Hey Mel:

So you drove from Spokane back home and for the first 1500 miles, you didn't go over 60mph and varied the speed every five minutes? I ask because I was wondering how to break it in for the trip home next month. I'm only 300 miles from Spokane and I'm concerned about driving off the lot and onto the freeway right away.

Thanks,

Brad

The break in distance for my truck was through WA, OR, ID, NV, CA, AZ, NM and Texas. The variations in speed or RPMs every 5 minutes was a best case scenario. Obviously that is almost imposable. I did try hard to follow that discipline. Pick a number in terms of interduction miles. You can find experts who think I am foolish. I believe I saw a page in your owners manual which address’ Dodges recommendations.

Good luck on your trip home.
