the truck pulls to the left when you hit the brakes but not when it is cold only when it gets worm and when your coming to a stop after a second or to there is no pull at all it stops straight. also i replaced both calipers any ideas?
 
I have had this problem years ago and have since only purchased brake wear parts at the dealer. If the problem is bad enough you might consider new rotors and pads at the dealer. Ensure the calipers are bled and slides are free as they should be being new. There are alot of particulars that can make the brakes pull... different levels of hardness or blemish's anywhere down the line will make a pull, add a maxed out GVWR and the pull can easily become a hazard. Be sure to bed in the new parts properly and keep in mind when driving the effects of TV. (search TV if you didn't allready read about it in past TDR issues, its very informative) (Thickness Variation)
 
Rather than blame the rotor/caliper , I would look closer at the tires. Check inflation and maybe rotate and see if the problem moves. If it stays the same, I would replace the rubber brake hoses. They will sometimes go bad internally but appear fine on the outside. The caliper slides should not make the truck pull as much as wear the inner and outer pads unevenly.

If the right caliper is sticking a bit, the brakes would work normally when cold, but due to excessive heat in the right side producing brake fade, the vehicle could pull to the left. If this is the case, there would also be rapid brake wear on the right.
 
Mr RSIMMONS you are right that it could be the brake hoses, I didn't mention that in my response as well as hundreds of other factors that could lead to a brake pull. I too have had extremely worn flexible brake hoses, none however have made my brakes pull, though I can see it being very physically possible. You seem to enjoy dumping money in your truck rsimmons, paying a little extra for OEM parts should be something you support.



Rule out nothing ckelly, it seems to never be the obvious. And good luck.
 
Caliper pins sticking?

I have run the gambit of front brakes.

I think I have had every possible problem.

More often than not when my brakes start to pull it's due to the caliper pins getting gummed up.

After 280,000 miles of driving in Southern California stop and stop traffic, I have found that it's very important to lube the caliper pins and the areas where the caliper slides on the spindles every 1000 miles.



You seem to have a "warm" brake pull.



It's pretty easy to check your front brakes and real quick too.

Just jack up one front wheel at a time and give them a good spin.

If your tires rotate freely you should check the rears for oil contamination and also check the wheel cylinders as they can also stick and cause your truck to pull to one side.

I also agree with Bob. I have fought front brake pull on my 99 from day one. I purchased the boots to cover the caliper pins from SFB and haven't had a pull since. It has been almost a year and I have been pull free.
