Anybody looking for a good CB?

Two silly questions from a beginner:

Do they make any travel trailers with a gooseneck hitch instead of 5th wheel? If not, why? It would be nice not to have the big 5th wheel hitch in my bed when not using it.

I have Mopar bed rails on my truck and think they look really good. Are they going to be in the way of a 5th wheel? They stick up about 4 inches, I believe.

1. Not that I am aware of. The gooseneck structure takes too much room out of the living space for most manufacturers.

2. Probably. Most people here will tell you between 4" and 8" clearance at the bed rails will be what you need.

3. B&W makes a gooseneck hitch with a 5th wheel adapter. Best of both worlds and that's what I am going to be buying in the near future. From my understanding it's also much less expensive than a dedicated 5th wheel hitch, but I'm going to be doing more research before I buy.

You may want to research the Gooseneck to fiver adapter on the internet.

I have no personal experience with them but there's lots stories about fifth wheel frames having been damaged by them.

removable 5th wheel hitch

They make removable 5th wheels that don't take up any bedspace with framework, since the framework goes under the bed. http://www.pullrite.com/

As a Pullrite owner, I'll second that. Although lifting a Pullrite Super Glide in and out of your truck is no easy task. My wife refuses to help me any more for fear of getting hurt, can't blame her. So I bought and engine hoist for lifting and a garden wagon for stowing. Now it's a 1-man job and I don't even strain myself.
