Jack the front drivers side tire off the ground, get yourself in a position that you can see the u joint and turn the tire while looking at the joint. It is hard to see the dimple until you know what it looks like then its still hard to see. Then it's hard to get grease IN the dimple. It is real easy to get grease everywhere else which is why people in this thread have grease slung everywhere. I will bet money that most dealers mechanics don't get grease in the fitting either. Good luck !!

I definitely got grease into the fitting. I double checked the pumping action and had very little cleanup around the fitting when I was done. If I did not depress the ball check in the center of the dimple the grease would have squirted out all over when I was pumping. Not the case. There is quite a bit of centrifugal force in play and I would surmise that the grease is being purged around the bearing caps. Nice gun you have there. What brand is it? I had good luck with a flex hose. Rigid tube looks like it would be hard to line up.

I use the needle that looks like a big hypodermic needle (the kind a doctor uses). Just poke it in the hole and pump away. :-laf

Standard size pistol grip grease gun, rubber hose with the long needle tip worked well. 3 pumps went in easy. 4th & 5th pump could feel bit of resistance. 6th pump clearly purging. Small 3 oz grease gun wouldn't take cartridge easily and cartidges from NAPA unmarked as to contents. Wasted money. Just put long tip on regular pistol grip gun with hose. TIP. Latex golve pulled over end of grease gun whether zerk or needle fitting on it stays on easily and prevents storage mess. Same with pulling latex glove over cartidge end of grease gun to catch weeping run-off.

I need help. I have grease coming out of the end caps of the u-joints (u-joint pictured by pservano). I took it to the dealership and they said the grease is injected with pressure into the u-joints. He went on to say that sometimes they are overfilled and the excess pushes out around the seal. Does this mean the seals are now bad and the u-joints will dry out? This doesn't sound right to me but I'm not a mechanic. Will the u-joints be ok? Thanks for your help.
