Steering Box Concerns

I would like to install a turbo boost, egt, and fuel pressure guages in my truck on the piller and I was wondering what the consenues is on brand of guages. Oo.

Putting in Autometer Phantoms today. My requirement was for a electric fuel pressure guage that was 0-30 PSI. Looking at all the different brands, (ISSOPRO Diporcol Autometer)) I think only the Phantom was white faced, black lettering, red pointer, that fit that requirement.

Ive had the isspro's on my 05 and now the dipricol on the 06..... i liked both of them, no issues..... if you like electronics, look at the commander...

DiPricol's match a tad better, but both match more than good enough for me.

I didn't want round analog gauges in my new 06... had them in my 99. I got tired of replacing bulbs. This digital is small, fits on the A pillar like a glove, and has adjustable brightness blue digital display. Very accurate unlike analog gauges. Look at it before you buy, you may like it like I did.

Doesn't someone manufacture analog gauges with an LED backlight? Those would never need replaced. Autometer.com has replacement LED bulbs for their analog gauges.

for another county heard from-

I have ISSPRO EGT and Boost (black face) installed in dash top pod.

Have had no trouble at all with them. (mechanical boost)

I have Auto Meter phantom mounted windshield pod-

engine oil, trans temp, rear end temp.

Also have Auto meter electric (stepper motor, expen$ive) fuel pressure

gauge mounted windshield pod. No problems with any of them, 1 gripe-

The oil temp and trans temp and rear end temp gauges are identical guts,

just different printing on the gauge faces. (one says oil temp, other 2

are same part number, say "trans temp". ) On the 2 trans temp gauges,

looks like the gauge needle was pressed onto the pin reading a different

temperature. I didn't realize this before I installed them, but in the "off"

condition, as well as when the truck is first started after sitting for days,

the trans temp gauge always reads about 15 deg higher than the other 2

temp gauges, when I know all the fluids are same exact temp.

I suspect the guage needle was pressed onto the pin a few degrees off-

not earth shattering, but poor quality and annoying. I just figure my trans

temp is about 10 deg higher than the gauge reads.

If I had realized it before the installation was complete, I probably would

have complained & sought return / exhange. But now the gauges are up

there on the windshield pod, and everything went so smooth with the install,

I don't want to tear it all down just to fix a 10-15 degree difference in

one of the pointers. When trivial problems like this are worth typing all

this on a forum... . life is good !

I am new to diesel trucks and specifically to gauges. This may be a dumb question, but can you use a programmer to read EGT, trans. temp and turbo boost, instead of using gauges?

Autometer's Phantom II's are LED backlit. just make sure you get their lighting controller, because those suckers are bright with very little voltage going to them! Have them in the '93 and the '03.

Edge Juice / Attitude, ullyDog PMT, BullyDog Outlook,... . and a few others offer power and guages in one package... . these typically have safety features built in. . e. g. defuel on egt, boost,... .

Quad Commander is a stand alone electronic guage that works with anything... . no power enhancer requred... . just like analogue, but digital... . standalones are good becasue you dont have to remove for dealer work or explain them... . I like the old school analogue guages...
